That's right its just a little over 8 months until once again we Coke aficionados get that original Coke taste. And I am not talking about the white stuff. I am talking about that carbonated confection called Coca-Cola. In it's current form it's nothing more then garbage in a bottle.
But once a year the Coca-Cola bottlers in the US of A start producing Coke made with good old sugar, not HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup). The younger folks here, 26 and younger, have no idea just how much difference sugar makes in coke. For them I suggest trying the real deal, you will never want to drink any other version.
Which leads into my reason for this vanity post, anyone anywhere that might know places to get this version, commonly known as Passover Coke, before Passover, post here. Or maybe you have a story or two to share.I have tried the Mexican route but lately they are using HFCS and claiming its made with sugar(very easy to tell). I have also heard that Canada makes the sugar version but have yet to find a supplier. And as much as I like it, I just can't talk myself into a road trip.
I've had it while in Canada a few months ago. So much better then the junk they sell here in the U.S. I had no idea why it tasted better until your post.

Just examined my icy Canadian Coke Classic - 42 grams of SUGAR!

As a comment, Coke made with real sugar will satisfy the drinker, whereas HFCS just makes you want more.
Lucky so and so. Sure wish I lived closer to the Border.
Someone does a little hording on Passover I see :) Only found out about the PK after this Passover.
I've been looking for this as well. Living in the south, there aren't many Jewish communities around here that need to be supplied with it, so we NEVER see it here. I have to travel somewhere or order it if I want it. I'd love to find a place online to order it from.
My understanding is that there used to be quite a few places in the US where you could get it online, but that the Coca-Cola company forced them to stop selling it(quite a few that I went to had the disclaimer up that they no longer sold the sugar version). However Dr. Pepper still uses sugar, or at least I am told that, but I have never really been a Dr. Pepper fan.
One DP plant in texas still uses sugar, but it isn't cheap.
It costs 5.15 for a 6 pack of 8oz glass bottles or 4.50 for a 6 pack in 12oz aluminum cans.
I don't remember the name of the bottler, but several of the local stores care it. They have 10 - 2 - 4 on the cans/bottles.

Dr. Pepper also contains polyethelene glycol - a derivitive of ethylene glycol - Ethylene glycol is anti-freeze. Chemically different but too close for my comfort.
Ditto. And I'm Jewish. It usually just means preparation supervised, so no appreciable difference. But in some cases, such as meat, it means guaranteed cleanliness and no additives.
Also, no adrenaline (the animal is killed painlessly) which can sometimes spoil the taste of meat, a little.
And I prefer the sugared coke too.
Appreciating Passover Coca Cola thread. Kosher for Passover means real sugar, no high fructose syrup, apparently. ;)
I avoid HFCS to the best of my abilities. I've been drinking this small-batch soda made with sugar. It is a little pricey -about $4/six pack bottles, but I don't drink more than one bottle per day.
I hate HFCS but we'll probably never remove the tariffs on sugar to make it cheap again to use as a sweetener in mass-produced items.
Polyethylene glycol is generally regarded as safe by the FDA although ingested in extreme amounts it's dangerous (but then so is water--what isn't?)
I actually heard a very interesting Rabbi address Kosher preparation. He addressed the "this was necessary for health back then but no longer in modern society (such as no pork, etc.)" argument simply and eloquently.
He said "that may be true, but what is important is that my God told me to do this. My respect and love for Him requires that I do what He wishes. What He was thinking at the time isn't for me to delve into and it would be egotistical for me to do so."
Sometimes the best answers are the ones staring us in the face.
I live in NYC, and would love to get my hands on some coke cola with suger instead of the usual crap in it.
