Justin Timberlake is not in awe of Taylor Hicks’ talent.
“People think he looks so normal, and he’s so sweet and he’s so earnest, but he can’t carry a tune in a bucket,” Timberlake told Fashion Rocks, a supplement of Vanity Fair. Timberlake also thinks that Hicks’ fame is fragile. “If [Hicks] has any skeletons whatsoever, if God forbid, he’s gay, and if all these people in Mississippi who voted for him are like [then he takes on a thick southern accent], ‘Oh my god, I voted for a queer!’ It’s just too much pressure.”
The “Justified” singer has mixed feelings about “American Idol,” the show made Hicks famous. “I have a strange relationship with that show,” he said. “I despise it, yet I’m completely fascinated.”
Of his former sweetie, Britney Spears, he said: “I dated Britney half my life, but I don’t know that woman anymore.”

With the possible exception of Kelly Clarkson, and much of her success may be due to production, there never has been anyone who was much of a singer on that show. Good grief, Fantasia Borrino (if that's how you spell it) might be the single most untalented "star" I've seen.
Hicks is good enough, and entertaining enough, and he won. The show isn't about singing, it is all about getting votes.
But, I'll agree that this smacks heavily of jealousy from Timberlake, who has been passed by and is yesterday's news.
Timberlake got his start in a genre that attracts 12 year old girls.

Why do I get the feeling that boyband Justin is trying to distance himself from Lance? Personally, I think he is as skanky as his girlfriend, Cameron. He is not attractive by any means, including posing as some white pimp.
I don't think any more of Timberlake than I do Taylor.......but if I had my "druthers" I'd have to go with Taylor (even though I think he's more silly than talented) but Timberlake is a grungy little squirt.
I think Carrie Underwood has got a lot of talent - perhaps more than anyone else so far.
