I don't think he wants to come back.

Glad you found the cat. Tuna is good to keep on hand. Catnip should also be on hand. That's what has always worked for me. Some rare cats aren't affected by catnip.

Send some nice mental images to the cat as well.

How much longer have you got her?

Just for 1 week.

You are the most awesome! That is such a great idea, we'll try that this weekend. Our new kitten has really torn up the underside of the one box spring, and I was planning to buy several yards of new batting this weekend and just take a staple gun to it all. This will be much easier.

It it weren't for dust ruffles, our master and guest bedrooms would look really wretched.

I'd calm down, let the house be quiet, and you'll see the cat come out eventually.

I guess my advice, to set off M-80s in each room until you flush it from its hiding place, wouldn't have worked as well.

Well, only if the quiet way doesn't work :~)

I've learned you can't be a control freak with a cat... just leave them alone, if they join you, they'll join you on their terms :~)

I agree with letting the house get peaceful and quiet and at the same time leaving a bowl of wet cat food or tuna out but in a semi-hidden place so the cat doesn't need to step into a wide open space to get to it.

The cat may be so afraid and sad that it's not eating and drinking enough to use the litter box.

I think better would have been for you or a reputable pet-sitting company to have visited the cat at home and fed it while the owners were gone. Cats HATE to change environments. It is very stressful for them.

But good luck!

Maybe she was FReeping at night & learning to be a viking kitty? like Jedi training perhaps?

I like the sound of that:

A Jedi viking kitty padawan . . .

By any chance is the sofa a hide-a-bed? That's where my reclusive kitty hid when I brought her home as a 2-y.o. I literally had to open the thing up after looking everywhere else. She'd squeezed herself into the works, inside the couch. Also check the backs of any upholstered furniture where there's often no stuffing to block kitty's climbing in from underneath.

Good luck!

Cats were once worshiped as gods in ancient Egypt.

They have not forgotten this.

Did we ever find out where the cat was, I can't sleep not knowing the end to these type of stories.

It was hiding INSIDE a couch.
