NFL Power Rankings (Week 2)
ESPN ^ | 9-12-06

Posted on 09/12/2006 2:21:37 PM PDT by Cyclopean Squid

Not surprising after one week, but this week's rankings were all over the map, starting at the top. The Steelers moved back to No. 1, while the Seahawks slipped two spots to No. 3. Four teams got first-place votes -- Steelers (2), Colts (2), Seahawks (1) and Ravens (1) -- and 16 teams received votes in the top 10. Five new teams (Jaguars, Ravens, Falcons, Bears and Chargers) entered the top five, with the Ravens jumping from No. 18 all the way to No. 6.

The Panthers fell 10 spots from No. 2 to No. 12. An overreaction? Maybe, but these ranking are always volatile at the beginning of the season while things shake out.

At the bottom, well if any of you watched the Raiders or Packers over the weekend, then you know who's at the bottom. The only question was which team would be all the way at the bottom. But really, could you go wrong with either one? ...

Steelers-Jaguars is ALWAYS one of the most physical and hardest fought games of the season. No matter what their record the Jaguars always mess with my Steelers Mojo and give them a good fight. Anyways, it will be a treat to watch especially given the sloppiness of the rest of the games as of late.

Patriots and underestimate have NEVER joined in the same sentence. The Patriots are consistently the most over rated and every commentator and their mother has a permanent hard on for all thing Belichik.

Loved watching the 'Skins lose their home opener with the likes of Tom Cruise, Al Hunt, and Judy Woodruff sitting in the owner's box with Snyder.

Truly nauseating circus that was. I had a big smile on my face after that FG missed its mark. You know, If Snyder keeps perpetuating this type of side-show, Jerry Jones won't look quite so bad after all to his detractors. LOL

Hasn't Jones mellowed a bit as of late? ....as far as running around on the sidelines during games is concerned, at least?

How long before "T.O." and "The Tuna" start butting heads?

Watch out for the Jags defensive line. Those boys are some baddd dudes. I think, in hindsight, the Cowboys would have been better served to mix in some screen plays to take advg of their pursuit and work in shorter curl routes due to a severely limited passing window. You have my permission to pass this tip on to Cower. Seriously though, I think the Steelers will handle them.

Jones has adapted to Parcells presence(ego), and taken on a lower profile. This is good. Most people yet despise the guy locally and otherwise-- I'm not among them.

I don't believe Tuna and Parcells will have serious problems because Parcells knows how to deal with difficult players. Owens' talent gives him extra latitude. He was demonstrably the best player on the field for them Sunday. If he goes nuts, he'll be dumped, and this will only happen if they become serial losers.

The only player that I really think Parcells is pissed off at right now is Vanderjagt.

He sure is. The guy concerns me as well, but they have to get him in there Sunday and see what happens.

The two times I've been to a baseball game, they were more passive affairs. You weren't really involved in the game, and it just kind of played out. Of course, I was a kid, and they were both Marlins games.

I really want to attend a Dolphins game sometime.

The Broncos looked awful on Sunday at St. Louis but at least they have a shot at sweeping the Raiders again this year.

Talk about lighting a fire under a team's a**. I'm looking for the Pats to go 2-0, and Ronnie Brown to run all over Buffalo. Hey, that rhymes, kind of.

I went to a few Marlins games in 2004. The stadium never had many fans, except when Dontrelle Willis was pitching.

Personally, I think it's because baseball fans aren't likely to go all the way to Dolphin Stadium. The Marlins really need their own place, and hopefully the Hialeah stadium proposal goes through. If nothing else, it's a much shorter drive from my house. Should be more accessible to people in Palm Beach County too.

Yeah that's why they were favored to win the SB each year they did it. /s

Just make Losman beat you and you'll be fine.

I still can't believe the Bills think Losman is the answer at QB. Good thing they won't have a shot at Brady Quinn--the Raiders will be selecting him next year.

I wouldn't count the Packers out of that race.

Well, as I was told a bunch of times when I said the Packers would draft Cutler this year, they already used a first-rounder on Rodgers. Even if the Packers get the #1 draft pick, they won't get Quinn. Supposedly.
