First vanity post - did a search on "Sarandon" and didn't see anything on this.
Mr. Inspectorette and I were astonished to see Susan Sarandon in a new Macy's commercial on our local Portland station.
If it's not her, she's got an identical twin. Has anyone else seen this?
I'll never forgive Macy's for shutting down two Boston area landmark stores...Jordan Marsh and Filene's.
I like stores with a local flavor. If I wanted to shop in New York,I'd hop in my car and drive.
Just my 2c worth.
My mother LOVED Filene's Basement!

If there is a theme for this column, it is the color red.
The Macy's red star can now been seen on the outside of the former Famous-Barr stores at Northpark Mall. The signs, covered until recently, were supposed to be unveiled this Saturday, when Macy's transforms itself into a national retailer with more than 800 stores in 45 states.
Macy's will roll out the red carpet, complete with Hollywood-style stanchions, red-star balloons and a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. All Macy's stores across the country will be giving away $10 electronic gift cards to the first 500 customers. One shopper will find a $1,000 gift card randomly mixed among the $10 cards. Customers must use their cards to see if they are a winner.
On Sept. 16, all Macy's stores will have a "Shop for a Cause" day. Macy's will donate tickets to local charities. The tickets will be sold by charitable organizations for $5 each - the proceeds of which they keep in full. Ticket holders then redeem their coupons at Macy's. They also will receive a bonus coupon for $10 off one purchase. In support of this program, Macy's has created a national TV spot, featuring actress Susan Sarandon, that will air in the days leading up to Sept. 16.
So where does the red star come from? It has to do with Rowland Hussey Macy, the man who founded Macy's in 1858 at 14th Street and Sixth Avenue in New York City. In his early days, Macy was a sailor. He adopted the red star as his symbol of success. His first-day sales totaled $11.06, but by the end of the first full year, sales had grossed almost $90,000. ......
Macy's took over the Foley's Department stores here in the Houston, Texas area. I was very surprised to see her as their spokesperson. Sheesh! I thought Macy's was supposed to have some class.
Just damn! I just saw this commercial. Been eyeing our new Macy's in Chesapeake for days and intended to go there tomorrow. They can forget it now.
Wow - red star! The symbolism is quite stunning!
