We never got one of those accidents when I was on the HS track team, but there were javelins and discuses, disci, whatever flying in all random directions. The javelin chuckers had that smirk on their faces all the time like 'I can put this through your neck from across the football field.'

Someone at my high school impaled himself with one. He tried to stop a run away discus with the javelin and he tripped. Miraculously it missed all of his vital organs.
