We, the Overseer Board of New Life Church, have concluded our deliberations concerning the moral failings of Pastor Ted Haggard. Our investigation and Pastor Haggard's public statements have proven without a doubt that he has committed sexually immoral conduct. The language of our church bylaws state that as Overseers we must decide in cases where the Senior Pastor has "demonstrated immoral conduct" whether we must "remove the pastor from his position or to discipline him in any way they deem necessary."

Well, a guy I never heard of of before has now been removed from his position of power because he committed an immoral sexual act.
I think I'll go vote DEMOCRAT. Oh, wait, they WORSHIP the people who are sexually immoral. Never mind.
To: Dallas59
They have removed him and will select a new lead Pastor.
To: loreldan
Couldn't get the link to work. The man needs to be helped if he wishes to remain in the Church but not as a leader....if he wants the help.

They did the right thing. I'm struck by how compassionate yet firm they seem to be.
To: loreldan
How very sad for the community. For his family. I will pray for them all and him as well.

It's a sad situation, but the elders did the right thing.

Good job. Straightforward, practical, and charitable.
I wish the congregation the best.

"They need to remove him."
They did.
"we have decided that the most
positive and productive direction for our church is his dismissal and removal."

The elders of this church did the right thing.
Unfortunately this was beyond the Matt. 18:15-17 stage and went public.

I am assuming this is the Pastor with the Male escort and Methanphetimine problem?

Yes, this beats the usual situation where some church leader is caught in some heinous sin, is put into "counseling," and then declared "fixed" within a couple of weeks and is back in the pulpit.

Conservatives properly remove their warts.
Liberals point to their warts and tell everyone that they're beautiful roses, and we must ALL love them.

Two great moments in public prevarication:
I phoned him repeatedly about the meth and then bought the meth, but I threw the meth away. I went to see him for a massage, but I didn't have sex with him.
Thanks, Ted, we needed that...
To: Dallas59
Yes. Up until now he only admitted buying meth but not using it. It appears that they have verified at least some of the male escort claim as well now.
