Will Nifong go after bloggers?
November 8, 2006

Posted on 11/08/2006 2:41:16 PM PST by CondorFlight

Now that the election is over and this can't be considered just an election ploy :

Rumors are said to have been circulating in Durham to the effect that Nifong might consider (legally) going after a couple of bloggers; that if he deals with a couple of them the rest will be intimidated and fade away.

This is just a heads up; so that if anything untoward happens, everyone will know about it in advance and be able to make the connection. The rumors are well-sourced.

That disturbs me. Is DHS monitoring FreeRepublic? What is that all about? If they are really concerned with security, they should monitor Democratic Underwear.

I think someone just posted an inline link to a photo that's hosted on a dhs.gov web site, but they linked it as an "https://" file instead of as a regular "http://" file. That would cause the sort of warning message we got.

OMG! What an embarrassment he is to the people of Durham.

The pic in post #27 on that other thread is a link from the dhs.gov site.

The only thing that warning means is that the certificate for that page cannot be verified. Maybe it has expired, or maybe its just goofed up.

It actually means nothing serious at all. The only person it needs to matter to is the webmaster over at that portion of the DHS website. He or She needs to catch up on their cert housekeeping.

Yup. The "https://" would do that.

It's probably just some DHS employee reading the net while at work. Maybe he or she got mad at something that was said and is trying to capture ISPs.

You're just kidding, right?

It don't work that way. :-)

"Hey, Nifong: you're a lying scumbag."

In a civil, libel suit filed by him I suppose you could prove the liar part.

How're ya gonna prove the "scumbag" part?

I already have good attorneys, but thanks! I know what a hell the NC legal system can be. Now about that bail money...

I'd say surely they're kidding, except it's Nifong. Wouldn't be surprised to see a lot 'Rats trying to shut down the blogs and sites like this one, either. They don't have enough sense to know when to stop.

I'll call Nifong a pissant, but we have a FReeper with that name, so I'll just call him a scumbag.

Nifong thinks that delaying the Duke Trial until after he won election is a good strategy. You know that he has not yet interviewed the complainant for testimony purposes? Meanwhile the LaCross players families have engaged some of the best legal defence teams and private investigators available. When the trial happens or should I say, IF it happens, Nifong will get his A$$ handed to him. The whole Duke fiasco may have been a ploy so Nifong would get elected in a constituency that has large numbers of decent Black folk who have been taken advantage of yet again

I suspect there are a lot of "decent Black folk" in Durham rueing today the vote they cast for Nifong's election...the man deserves disbarment!

Since Nifong has a god complex, I wouldn't be surprised if this rumor is true. If he feels he needs more trouble, all I can say is, "Come get some!"

Maybe Nifong should go up against Fox News and Greta Van Susteren. They don't think much of his case, either.

Howlin, I have a feeling Nifong would not even think of approaching your territory, LOL! When I go into the freeper protection program, I am coming to your house.

Remember, I called first dibs, I get to pick my room. I'm neat and you won't have to cook for me (I expect those 2 son-in-laws to do that!)
