My brother had an Abbyssinian who was one of the most gorgeous cats I've ever seen, very similar to Punkin only he had a very distinct diamond pattern to his fur. He was also very bright and mischeivous.
He died way too early of stomach cancer, he wasn't even six years old.
We had a Siamese when I was very young and she reminded me a lot of the Abbysinian, actually. Very bright, "talkative" and very people oriented. Very neat cats, and sooooo pretty.

My first cat was a Ruddy Abyssinian. He was the smartest sweetest cat ever. And he taught me much as well. Thanks for the ping. I missed most of Rush's show today.

My cross-eyed siamese is a beauty with the healthiest coat I've ever petted. She's a talker, and will not shut up if she thinks dinner or breakfast is late.

Hey, let's just immediately relieve anyone of the notion that it's just chicks who dig cats.
I have a Boxer and two cats; a black cat and and a short hair tabby. The cats are both affectionate and the dog, dumb as dirt.
I'm partial to the cats.

No, that's the implant part, it actually plugs into his head, if you can believe it! It sends signals to his brain that his ears no longer can. Amazing things, those cochlear implants.

I LOVE when Rush talks about Punkin. So cute! I loved when he talked about getting Punkin's "toofies" cleaned, since I guess Abyssinians have soft teeth. Hee, "toofies".... :P

Science is also developing a similar concept for people with visual loss resulting from the gradual destruction of the rods and cones at the back of the eye called, Retinitis Pigmentosa.
It utilizes a pair of glasses with light sensors and the electronics to plug into the visual cortex of the brain.
Very soon, at least for this type of blindness, the blind will see again...very cool.
Humans are so clever.
