I love Maple Syrup
The North American Maple Syrup Council (lots of links here) ^

I love maple syrup, and not just as something I put on pancakes, but as an all-around condiment and flavoring. I've placed it in chili, barbeque sauce, and pie crusts. Its versatility as a supplement to, or substitute for sugar, is completely under-rated. I hail maple syrup! Keep away from children.

Just learned recently that most "pancake syrup" sold in the US is, in fact, corn syrup - which explains why I could never stand it.

My wife bought some real maple syrup, and I love the stuff.

It seems the other stuff is reffered to as "pole syrup", as in "Telephone pole." lol.

Maple syrup is the cornerstone of the "master cleanse". But it has to be the good stuff.

Maple syrup is good.

If you take 3 fenugreek capsules twice a day, your body will start to smell like maple syrup, too...FYI.

I did some work in New Hampshire and Vermont over a few weeks. On one weekend I decided to drive over to Maine. A few miles before the stateline I stopped at a cafe to get some pancakes.

The waitress asked me if I wanted the syrup on the table of what they eat in the kitchen. I opted for the real stuff. As I recall thick and just right for sweetness.

I was taken by how every item on the menu in some Vermont restaurants were available with maple syrup.

See, it is funny what you learn, as you get older.

Never could stand syrup, or sodas, or a bunch of other stuff - turns out they are all made with corn syrup.

I am allergic to corn.

NOW it all makes sense.

Maple syrup is actually GOOD.

"My wife bought some real maple syrup, and I love the stuff. "

When I was a little boy, my mom caught me drinking shots of pure maple syrup. Which went a long way to explaining my behavior at the time...

Good question. I wouldn't have known at the time. Maybe that should be my new excuse.

When I was a kid living in New England, we'd go up to a place in New Hamp. to eat freshly boiled syrup drizzled on snow, sort of like the snowballs/snowcones we have in the sunbelt, but made with the real stuff scooped up from the ground!

Thanks for those links.

I learn something new and useful every day.

As an aside, following the links led me to this, which I can't resist sharing...

CLASSY

Read the notice at the bottom of what is otherwise a classy-looking page...

The way I see it . . . you can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, and sauté it. There’s, maple shrimp-kabobs, maple shrimp creole, maple shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's maple pineapple shrimp, maple lemon shrimp, maple coconut shrimp, maple pepper shrimp, maple shrimp soup, maple shrimp stew, maple shrimp salad, maple shrimp and potatoes, maple shrimp burger, maple shrimp sandwich. That . . . that's about it.
