Former Eastenders actress Michelle Ryan is set for massive success in the US with her new series the 'Bionic Woman.'

Seen here in the first images released of her in the role, Ryan will play Jamie Sommers, a tennis pro who suffers a near-fatal skydiving accident before her body is transformed with £25million worth of bionic wizardry.

US TV bosses are so pleased with the pilot, they have commissioned a series which will be shown later this year.

I used to know a pot smoker and semi-alcoholic decades ago that dozed off at the wheel and ran into a bridge pillar. An arm and a leg were shattered, his nose was torn off, and his glass eye landed in the back seat. We went to see him in the city's main emergency hospital and were greeted by a shotgun toting cop at the door to his ward. There were prisoners in there, and derelict winos who had set themselves on fire and got their legs cut off by trains.

They had his arm and leg in casts, had sewn his nose back on crooked, and his glass eye had yet to be recovered from the wrecking yard. The staff were ignoring the patients that day, and his catheter bag had overflowed across the floor. After we stepped across The Yellow River we chatted a while and tried to ignore the burned derelict in the next bed.

As my friend and I left our fellow co-worker we cracked up laughing and named him The Six Hundred Dollar Man. It was NOT a high tech medical center and NOT first class work. It was about $600 worth, total.
