Alabama boy shoots 1000 lb, 9 ft. wild boar

An Alabama boy has used his revolver on an enormous wild boar, killing the animal and sending the youngster on his way to 15 minutes of fame. Or more.Advertisement

Jamison Stone, 11, used a .50 caliber revolver to kill the pig at a commercial hunting preserve in east Alabama about three weeks ago. Stone, his father and two guides tracked the pig, but bagging the swine took about three hours of chasing through hilly woods before a final shot at point blank range brought it down for good.

Stone's father, Mike Stone, says the animal weighed more than a thousand pounds and was more than nine feet long. The tusks measured five inches. It took heavy equipment to transport the animal out of the woods. The head went to a taxidermist. The rest is headed for the sausage factory. The Stones could net 500 to 700 pounds of sausage meat.

If the claims are accurate, the trophy boar eclipses Hogzilla, the famed wild hog that grew to seemingly mythical proportions before it was killed in south Georgia in 2004.

The young hunter is headed for the network morning shows and the silver screen. Hogzilla is the subject of a movie and Stone has been offered a small part in the film, "The Legend of Hogzilla."

What’s forbidden about that? (Seriously - I’m GRITS, and that’s what everybody calls them. My parents’ island is infested with the darned things.)

Buttermilk. Soak it 24 hours. Tenderizes it too.

Take into consideration this (my brother resides in Bama and alot has been said over the episode)...the gun was a pistol, which fires 50 cal rounds. With my carpel tunnel stuff...by the third shot...I’d have been finished. This kid fired 16 of these rounds. As for the method of hunt....in this region where it was shot....almost everyone has a quad bike and a hunting dog. They go as far out in the boonies as you can dream of...where almost no trails exist. There are weekly reports of dogs which tangle with the wild boars in the region (most folks have some kind of leather and armor they mount on the dog). Alot of the locals don’t believe the kid fired off 16 shots...and they question the fact that nine were hits...which if you think about it...one or two 50 cal slugs should have been enough to take it down. So we are left with a pure hunting story, and picture which you can’t argue about.

Between the photos in Post 28 and Post 21, either the hog grew or the kid shrunk or........

You use the old "hold the fish straight out and closer to the camera" trick to make it look bigger. In this case, the hog not being movable, the kid posed farther away from the hog to make it look much bigger than it actually is in relation to him.

older hogs just don’t have good meat on them. Especially the really large ones”

You just have to drink a whole lot more.

I have a hard time believing that the kid fired that many times with a S&W500. I do give him enourmous kudos for even carrying the thing but I bet dad loaded some light rounds for him.

The question I have is where does a hog that big hide for so long to even be able to get that big?! (ya, ya, besides “Anywhere it wants”)

That’s a whole lot of soft soft tissue — which does not carry pistol shock well — around those big wrist bones, jmho.

yeah. it’s a shame those smiths can’t have a front pistol grip - but would it still be a pistol then?

My lord.

For a hog like that I would want AT LEAST a Barret .50 cal.

Hog-zilla’s Gran-paw.

That ain't nothin'.

Out at deer camp, I got one twice that big.

I was standing on the steps about 4:00 AM and he come running right through camp.
I chased him down and beat him to death with a rock.

My dad was mad because I bruised up the meat.
