Fords and my Chrysler have fairly inexpensive keys and transmitters. The lexus and the Prius don't...
gone are the days my ‘64 VW convertible I was young and always losing the keys or locking them in my car. The AAA, would come out slim jim it open, and on my way I went. $1.00 for a new key. Insanity. How the heck are we supposed to survive.
Sounds like she could use a good husband who can fix up a 1994 Dodge Colt for about $1200 and some blood, sweat, and tears. It’s got new belts, hoses, tires, alignment, oil leaks fixed, synthetic oil intstalled - should run 100,000 reliable miles.
My wife and I just can’t see running a new vehicle on the gravel roads we drive that’s the main reason for driving beater vehicles. Plus I’d rather have the kids crunch some old clunker than a new car, you should ride with my older daughter, it’s scary.
One of the first things I do when I get a new or new-to-me car is to have two duplicate key (sets) made. This forestalls the problem quite nicely.
Get a group of 30 guys and they could probably carry it onto the truck.
