yesterday’s thread on this said that when a certain official (mayor, I think) was asked about this guys legal status, the official said the 15 year old was an american citizen, but regarding this guy, he REFUSED to answer.

“Immigrant” could mean a first generation citizen or he could be an illegal immigrant.
But if he is a convicted child rapist he shouldn’t walking the streets even if his ancestor was captain of the Mayflower.
He hadn't committed any serious offenses like smoking a cigarette in a public building or driving without a seatbelt.

What kind of bail was set for immigrant, probably illegal, more than one serious charge? Why any bail at all?
