What Are You Reading Now? - My Quarterly Survey of Freeper Reading Habits
9/27/07

Posted on 09/27/2007 8:09:20 AM PDT by MplsSteve

It's time again for my quarterly "What Are You Reading Now?" thread!

It can be anything...a NY Times bestseller, a technical journal, a trashy pulp novel...in short, anything!

DO NOT answer by saying "I'm Reading This Thread". It stopped being funny a long time ago.

Here's what I'm reading. I'm just about finished with "Street Without Joy" by Bernard Fall. It's about France's war in Vietnam from 1946-1954. Very interesting and tragic.

So, tell me. What are you reading now?

There’s a short article in the current Farm Show magazine (Available at Tractor supply) about a 37 year old cat named Baby. I was stunned to know that cats can live so long.

“For Fun- Knights of the Black and White by Jack Whyte.”

Love his books. I just finished reading Dietz’s Logos series and am starting on some Hammer’s Slammers.

Just got a copy of 'Bridge of San Luis Rey' by Thornton Wilder.

Next Tuesday or Wednesday I will get Ann Coulter's new book (at least that is when I think it comes out), but I probably won't start reading it until yet a week later - after I finish the Thornton Wilder book.

Reading "A History of Christianity" by Paul Johnson.

Also, "Michaelangelo and the Pope's Ceiling" by Ross King.

Lots of good ideas on this thread.

That one sounds good. I didn't know about this journey.

I too, have read all of Vince Flynn's books with the exception of Memorial Day in recent weeks. Don't you just love it when the crooked politicians are exposed and dealt with so wonderfully. IIRC, his new book will be released Oct. 30th.

Are you aware that Scorby's Audio version of the KJV is available at this link http://www.audio-bible.com/bible/bible.html? You can fill the room with The Word! Great listening.

I’m currently rereading Hell To Pay: The unfolding story of Hillary Rodham Clinton by the late, great Barbara Olson.

Her insights and knowledge of the real Hillary Clinton are chilling. It’s probably one of the more important books to read, especially at this time when revisionist Hillary tripe is being heaped upon us all day long every day by our leftist media.

“Europe Central” by William T. Vollmann, a brick of a novel about various real and imagined characters in Germany and the USSR from 1917 to about 1960. Good stuff, but dense going.

I just read this on the Internet, if you want a great short read then check out this real After Action Report (pdf file) on the The Battle of Ia Drang...

In November 1965, 450 U.S. soldiers were dropped into a small clearing in the Ia Drang Valley. They were surrounded by 2,000 North Vietnamese soldiers.

“The Painted Veil” by W. Somerset Maugham (I actually liked the movie better....seriously......that’s never happened to me before.)

“His Excellency” by Joseph Ellis (read it for a second time last month LOL)

“Nelson’s Trafalgar” (just started it....very good so far)

“Predator” by Patricia Cornwell. Okay, but not one of her best.

Thank you. Have you seen this site What Should I Read Next? It's a great resource after you've read everything written by a particular author and withdrawals begin to set in.

From their home page:

Enter a book you like and the site will analyse our database of real readers' favourite books (over 32,000 and growing) to suggest what you could read next.
