What Are You Reading Now? - My Quarterly Survey of Freeper Reading Habits
9/27/07

Posted on 09/27/2007 8:09:20 AM PDT by MplsSteve

It's time again for my quarterly "What Are You Reading Now?" thread!

It can be anything...a NY Times bestseller, a technical journal, a trashy pulp novel...in short, anything!

DO NOT answer by saying "I'm Reading This Thread". It stopped being funny a long time ago.

Here's what I'm reading. I'm just about finished with "Street Without Joy" by Bernard Fall. It's about France's war in Vietnam from 1946-1954. Very interesting and tragic.

So, tell me. What are you reading now?

Currently reading Vince Flynn’s novels. I am in the middle of “The Third Option” after reading “Consent to Kill, Term Limits, and Transfer of Power” in the last 3 weeks. I read “Memorial Day” when it came out and loved it but just never got around to buying his other books.
Looking forward to the new one later this month.

Obviously I am hooked.

Love your tagline SoftballMom. I have had the truth of it demonstrated in a few threads recently! It is sad that I am so wise and so many are so foolish. : P

“Roaring Lambs” by Bob Briner
“Mirror, Mirror” by Gregory Maguire

And I’m just about finished with the audio version of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” (I’ve already read it, but had an extended road trip last week)

Lois McMasters Bujold’s Miles Vorkostigen series for one.

A mystery series by Leann Sweeney that is pretty good. It is set in Houston, near where I live, and it often wanders into the NASA area.

On a more serious note, “The Death of the Grown-Up,” “50 Rules Kids Won’t Learn in School: Real-World Antidotes to Feel-Good Education,” “Buffalo Soldiers in the West,” and “Following the Royal Road: A Guide to the Historic Camino Real De Tierra Andentro.”

The Annals of World by James Ussher is in print after 400 years. I did not know that there were so many wars thousands of years ago.

The Church History by Eusebius, The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien (for about the 8th time), Reflections on the Psalms by C.S. Lewis, and He Is There and He Is Not Silent by Francis Schaeffer.

With occasional glances at Rifle magazine.
