How do I delete items from my "Ping List"? Sorry to bother you with this, but I looked everywhere and could not find any help. I am trying to get rid of a lot of old stuff here and elsewhere on my computer and your server.
Thanks,
Learner.

hit ctrl-alt-delete all at the same time.

The only way I’m aware of is to contact the owner of that list & request to be removed from it.

FReepmail whoever sent you the ping and ask them to remove you from the list. It’s the polite way of getting removed.

I think he/she is talking about the record of their posts and posts to them, what you see when you follow the ‘pings’ link from the forum.

You can’t, they aren’t on your computer, they are now part of the forum. They aren’t separate records you can delete, they’re part of the threads they’re posted on.
To: JustaDumbBlonde
I don’t think they can be deleted.

Only workable solution I can think of is to register under a new name, and forget you ever existed before that point. :)

Once pinged, forever pinged unless the owner provides some modifications that allow you to wipe the slate clean.

Just try to get yourself banned. That will get rid of those pesky pings, past, present and future.

I don’t either. Not sure why you would want to since they aren’t taking up space on your own computer. Oh, well.
To: jdm
So, all of you are saying it is hopeless and that it is taking no storage space on my computer? I do not really care. I was just doing some clean-ups here and elsewhere on my computer.
Thanks for the advice.

How do I delete items from my "Ping List"
It requires a very small bit of HTML programming.
Here is the code, which you'll only be able to deciper with the FR Decoder Ring downloaded as an attachment when you first signed up...I hope you didn't delete that email. It will tell you to delete the spaces between the characters, and divulges the Secret Handshake.
< S > is the HTML code for Strikethrough ON
< / S > is the HTML code for Strikethrough OFF
Not to be confused with / S -- which is the non-HTML code for Sarcasm OFF
Thus Unwanted "Pings" becomes Unwanted "Pings".
Never mind a tip, just bump the Freepathon thread. Glad to be of service.

If you need more attention, I could ping you to every single thread that I read! J/K
To: learner
No, it's not taking up space. However, if you want to free up space safely on your hard drive, by deleting junk files, download/install/run
Ccleaner.

Your browser has a browser cache, while FR uses a ping cache.
Go to My Computer, click on the C: drive, /Windows and look for the /pingcache directory. You can safely delete it and start fresh, after you reboot.
I think.

"No, you hit c:/format"That would be FORMAT c:
But you can't do this with the OS running at all. You must access it from an external source, such as a 'live CD'. ;^)

The Ping list must be a bit how our records will look up in heaven or H-E-double toothpicks :-). Although a bit longer. When we see them there is much we wish we could delete.

Your pings, along with each and every keystroke you have made since purchasing your computer are all part of your PERMANENT RECORD, which is kept by Sister Mary Moses of The Burning Bush (All Lit Up) SSND.
She is the chair of the PERMANENT RECORD Committee, which includes Sister Mary of the Steel Ruler, SSND, Sister Mary Immaculata of The Holy Tree of Jerusalem, SSND, Father Howard Feeley, CSC, and Sister Mary Elephant, C&C, UIS.
Petitions for changes to or deletions from your PERMANENT RECORD may be submitted to the above, accompanied by notarized proof of your completion of three Novenas and five continuous hours of meditative penance in front of a Monstrance.
By the way, your FR User ID has been added to the PERMANENT RECORD Ping List, from which deletions are not possible.
