I have a serious question.
We live on a bay on the Oregon Coast and this time of year the rats want in really bad.
I can D Con in the Garage because I can hide it behind the tool bench where they follow along the wall.
I cannot D Con around the house because we have 3 Labs and sometimes the other Labs in the area sneak away and come visit our home ( I don't encourage them).
So I am looking at these plug in the wall sonar rat repellants.
Do they work? Can I plug them inside next to the doors and have them be effective?
The suckers come every year when it gets cold and if I don't kill them they knaw at the door frame.
I had one come up one year in the day and as my Lab was standing over his bone barking to the nieghbor Lab up the way the dirty rat came up under him and stole his bone. I kid you not. Brazen lil' sucker.
I hate rats.
They have been known to get into homes here while folks are gone for the winter and literally destroying the interior.

I had one come up and peer in the window (my perch/sitting place is right up at the window for the bay view) a couple of weeks ago.
And a big fat a** rat came up on the deck last week but quickly relized dogs were looking out the door back at it.
I can handle spiders and snakes but ya’ll I get the willies and have nightmares when it comes to rats.
Drives the Cold Nose Crew of Labs nuts in the winter because they don’t get the door cracked open to go in and out.
I dont know if a cat is a solution, I have 5, one might be a good mouser, heck he’s a good squireller too. I still have to put out mouse traps
The best thing for any rodents is a cranky cat. If that is not a choice try a professional. They bring stuff you can’t get. I have tried electronics for about every kind of pest and have not found one that works.
Oh yes, the JR terriers are very good, but lively. Maybe someone with a back problem won’t get along with them! Terriers in general are excellent rat killers, can be ferocious.
Another supposed vermin repellent, though I’ve never tried it, is wolf urine. You’d have to google that for sources.
i had one and it caused a house fire....I guess it works, if you want to burn them up, along with all of your belongings.
I know they’ve been proven to NOT work, but the funny thing is, ever since my wife plugged one into one of our kitchen outlets near the garage, we haven’t had any mice. We used to get two or three every fall/winter, but for the past four or five years, none.
Even though I know the thing doesn’t keep the mice away, there’s no way my wife is removing it from the wall. No way.
LOL.
$40 for 1 hmmm kinda spendy but if I could put it under the deck back here where they like to pop up.

Yeah up a few posts the disposable ones seem the way to go.
I don’t mind killing rats as long as I don’t have to view them dead or alive.
I have feed store in town that we do business with I will make it a point to pick some up.
My grandfather once told me that rats are good because they scare the mice away. Notice that you don’t have a mouse problem so the rats are obviously doing their jobs..........
We can't point out that even Hillary's shrill tones can't run the 'rats off?

I have the ultrasonic gizmos. Mom bought them, and I haven’t felt the need to ditch them. I haven’t seen a sign of a rodent in the residence — no droppings, no scratching in the walls. There are droppings in the basement, but I hven’t seen a live one.
Of course, I never saw rodents before the ultrasonic gizmos, so they might be like elephant repellent.
You could try laying a trail of dog or cat food (whichever your rats prefer) from your place to the neighbors house after dark. Once the rats eat their way over to the neighbor’s they won’t be able to find their way back to your house........
Yeah the rats love to shred the heck out of anything they can so I could enjoy making a rat hotel nice and cozy with a bit of d con and snacks inside.
I have a landscape/property care guy come out twice a month and he would help.
Have known him and his wife in the community for 20 yrs good at lending a hand.
I used to have a roommate who left out cat food for neighborhood strays. I finally talked him into stopping that practice after the one pre-dawn morning I went out to the porch and almost stepped on a possum who’d come to the buffet.
I’m tempted to plant a flower bed with catnip. I’d like the neighborhood strays to keep the squirrels at bay, but I don’t want to attract them with food, because I want them hungry.
I am starting to feel a bit nauseous.
Like I could barf.
Hmmm. I could put that in plastic zip lock bags and post them every 10 ft around the deck. : )
Good Lord I have to search for the Maalox emergency kit now.
