Obama: Is America Ready For a Black Government?

The tought crossed my mind today while watching the election centered news - If Obama wins, how will America respond to a Black govenment?

What do I mean by that?

When you look forward to a Hillary or Rudy or whom ever led government, you see a traditional colection of mostly white men, a scattering of white women and a black here and there. The Cabinet and inner circle - all the same

One has to think with Obama's election, the inner circle will be largely black. It is natural. They are his associates. Will the Black community expect a large number of appointment? Any way you cut it - Visually, "things" will look different from the previous 200+ years of US government.

So back to my question.will America respond to a Black govenment? Will it make a difference? Will there be back lash? If we discuss it now, it will become a racial issue. If it comes up should Obama be elected, it will become racial.

It's an interesting thought at this cross roads for our country.

Your comments illustrate why Obama will NOT get the Democratic nomination.

BTW: I take issue with your assuming that Mayor of the Third World City on the East Coast will automatically get the nomination. Besides, being of Southern Italian ancestry, he is a "borderline white" (see also the Greeks, Jews, Armenians, Persians, etc.). ;-)

What a racist remark....

Not trying to be racist. It is an academic question.

We say we are a tolerant country. I do have doubts, especially after reading many of these posts, how Americans will react to a largely black inner circle regardless of their governess and political persuasion.

It will be interesting - to say the least.

An Obama Presidency is still a stretch. Clinton is currently in the lead nation-wide.

Anyway, an Obama Presidency would still have plenty of European descended Cabinet members and officials. There's little need for those of European descent to wonder whether or not 'their people' will be represented--such a tribal attitude, isn't it?

On a purely racial level--so not including Obama's insane views on some issues and bad views on others--having a President of African descent could be extremely helpful in drawing a large segment of the African descended American population into the mainstream of society. Currently many of that group seem to feel alienated by a European descendant dominated society, and one which still does (to some extent) look down on them. Also, Obama as President would be a symbol to Americans of African and non-European descent that finally a non-[majority]-European descendant has attained the Presidency. He could be an impetus for causing some 'disaffected minorities' to try to socioeconomically advance if they no longer believe that the glass ceiling they perceive is quite as solid as it once was.

Lastly, a President Obama would be a symbol to nations around the world. Latin America might start voting in leaders who physically match their demographics more closely. Other countries might have similar changes in voting in politicians based on appearance.

So, while having Obama as President would be a bad thing, some good could come from his Presidency.

(Now the hard part: reading through the comments without posting responses to those which are found offensive, or attempting to counter or discredit those comments which are flawed and yet could influence easily-swayed people. Just going to ask readers to weigh the arguments and comments closely, including this one, and make your own informed decision).

"It wouldn’t be the black part that bother me it would be the Muslim part.."

Barack Hussein Obama may have a Muslim heritage but like most democrats......he's an athiest at the core.

Is America Ready For a Black Government?

Virginia had a black governor some time ago, but Governor Wilder didn’t run as a persecuted black man - he ran as a politician running for office. The race card never showed. I even voted for him.

How many towns with a majority of blacks have mayors on drugs and riot all the time? What a stupid comment. Haven’t you seen trading places? Our political system is corrupt enough as it is for everyone! And its not because of the system, it’s because power and money corrupt. Ahhhh-humans. :)
