Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Good Morning ALL - we normally have an assortment of teas, lemon-ginger, camomille, chai spice black tea and seasonally Christmas Eve and White Christmas.
Morning - Whoohoo 58 degrees. Very nice - no ice.
Very nice, don’t see those old Berretas very often. Thanks for the nostalgia. Those old ones are often underappreciated.
We’re up over 40 already. The snow is melting...
If the snow goes, the ice will soon follow.
On the last thread I posted some pics of my new Kimber purchase just last month. It started out as an Ultra Carry, and got some attention from the custom shop:
The Ultra Refined Carry Pistol (RCP II). I'm still pretty tickled with it. It's just "neato" if I do say so myself. No sights. Bobbed hammer and beavertail. Melt treatment... no grabby bits to snag coming out of a pocket.
I also got one of these from Cabelas, and I would recommend it for that Ultra Carry as a good thing:
The Desantis pockect holster. Works great in a coat pocket or pants pocket. Protects the pistol and holds it in place, but sticks in the pocket and its easy to draw out the pistol leaving the holster behind. Also keeps the pistol shape from printing through the jacket.
I don't know how Kimber does it either... how they can make their guns just so darn accurate even when, like above, they've got no right to be.
But it shoots like the dickens. :-)
But no longer underpriced. Which means there are a few people out there now appreciating them, and pricing them accordingly.
I’m a bit late to the party but cheers to Old JRR and all his friends. This is my first post at Free Republic and when I saw a Hobbit Hole with a Saturday Night Gun Thread I knew I’d found home. Hello to all!
Well, if hobbitses and gun pron, with a whole lot of other chit chat in between is right up your alley, then welcome!
Thankee Kindlee! (spell check hated that) My little snub nosed 44 special is named ‘Sting’ but alas has no runes on it. Fare thee well til we speak again.
And I suppose it does not glow blue when bad guys are around? :~)
Come and go as you please :~) Hang out and talk about what interests you.
It doesn’t so much glow as it flashes and erupts. ;-)
Wish Bilbo had had one of these. Bet it works on spiders.
Hmmmm.....for some reason I always figured the Elves to be anti-gun. ...but that's just me.
Hmmmm.....
Now THAT definently looks like a more practicale and servicable “pocket piece” than the CDP Ultra II... Plus, being a Kimber I suspect one doesn’t sacrifice any quality, accuracy or reliability..
I don’t recall the RCPII being available several years ago when I picked up the CDP — or at least my LGD didn’t inform me of this alternative and he knew why I wanted this stubby .45.
I really like the sightless, hammerless and bobbed beavertail -— since any and all eliminations of hooks and edges is a good thing for a pocket carried piece..
I guess I’ll go shopping and try to find a way to smuggle ANOTHER piece into the vault... Sure wish I hadn’t told my Sainted Wife the combination...
What are Christmas Eve and White Christmas?
I mean...in the tea context...
Had more of my black tea this morning. One thing that fascinates me is that this tea is full leaves - all rolled up, but when they are infused, they roll out and you can see the little leaves.
I am easily amused. ;-)
I found a can of Copenhagen in the front yard. I wonder if it will deter bunnies and squirrels.
Who was the guy from a few years back who used tobacco as a primary ingredient in all sort of potions for gardens? Have any idea what I’m talking about?
I’m attempting to tidy, but mostly creating a state up upheaval. I did get a few bags together for Goodwill, so there’s that.
Er...state *of* upheaval.
I think the RCPII only came about in 2003 with a limited run, and only recently have they added it back in to their production line.
So yes, it’s fairly new.
I like that it’s just a no-compromise carry gun that still shoots with good accuracy, and it’s still a .45.
Elves love guns. I mean, if you’ll use a bow you’ll use a gun. The elves around my mountain tend to like really big guns. Just between us, I think they’re overcompensating for something but that is just speculation on my part.
