I might have to call BS on this one. I’m of the understanding that a BAC of half that can kill a person.

Over .40 is unconcious and very likely dead.
Sounds like they have bad equipment, a decent lawyer would get the charge dropped.

How did she stay conscious for the mug shot?

Good Christ. Thats not legally drunk, thats legally dead.
You'd think so.
In a prior life, I worked in a reference lab that did blood alcohols
(suspect drunk drivers had the option of having two tubes of blood
drawn; one went to the state crime lab, the suspect could send the other
to a reference lab of their choice).
We did have one 0.48% result. The hospital reported that the
cops found the guy wandering around just out of sight of the car
he wrapped around a tree...and he hadn't a clue why he was wandering
around the countryside and no idea of how he got there.

A boss that I used to work for had 3 frames certificates from detailing his BAC of .60 or higher. They were his 6.0 membership plaques as he called them. One was for .61, 2nd for .63 and the last for .68. That guy could out drink everyone else at a table of 6 and we learned never say were were picking up the tab as his tab was usually higher that the 5 other guys put together.

“CAN” is the operative word there. I’m guessing she is a pro, and can withstand quantities that would typically kill a non drinker.

I’m calling BS right along with you.
The article says she’s is 42. Does that mug shot look like she just came off a .72 BAC binge?

“I might have to call BS on this one. Im of the understanding that a BAC of half that can kill a person.”
I thought so also but that level of BAC apparently is possible
This is from wikipedia
“Unless a person has developed a high tolerance, a BAC rating of 0.20 represents very serious intoxication (most first-time drinkers would be unconscious by about 0.15), and 0.35 represents potentially fatal alcohol poisoning. 0.40 is the accepted LD50, or lethal dose for 50% of adult humans. For a long-time, heavy drinker, those numbers can at least double. In extreme cases, individuals have survived BACs as high as 0.914”

As seen in a police photo, Comer's vehicle came to a stop about 50 feet in front of one of those portable traffic signs reminding motorists not to drink and drive. Poor lady saw the sign and did as she was told...

This sounds suspicious. A blood-alcohol level this high would be fatal.
