Sleeping Beauty
Within this crystal chalice -
A kiss of liquid fire,
The banked and ebbing embers,
In remembered warm desire.
Borne down now by its burden,
A seed at the glistened tip,
The bud of Springtimes flowers,
Entombed in an icy grip.
And slow its heart is beating,
Its breath is a gentle sigh,
For it dreams an awakening kiss to come,
With a warm soft air in the sky.
When the glass of its bed has been shattered,
To lie in shards at its feet,
While with gentle languid motions,
It will draw on its clothes, discreet.

I'm Thankful for this Flower

Thank you for the compliments. And thank you for coming by today.
MamaBear is responsible for that beautiful Pledge Graphic.
I used the Prayer at the original Amy's Place ...
I'm not sure whether it is by MamaBear or St.Louie1.
I agree it is awesome.
Thanks again and have a wonderful weekend.

Yippee!! We're back! It's nice to see Amy's Place again. :-)
I am not a poet, so I will post a winter poem by Robert Frost.....

The way a crow Shook down on me The dust of snow From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart A change of mood And saved some part Of a day I had rued.

I am so, so tired of winter and being cold! I know, people who know that we live in California are probably wondering how on earth we could be complaing about the cold....but it DOES get cold here and it's damp and I am pretty much miserable all winter. Although, we don't have it as bad as most of the rest of the country, still, I can complain if I want to. LOL.
I am ready for spring the day after Christmas.

I don’t think I’ve posted this before.
“Hwaet! We Gar-Dena in geardagum”,
started that epic tale of old.
It told of Viking heroes,
their exploits brave and bold.
And we like they have seen the day,
when heroes walked our land,
and like those Spear-Danes in years gone by,
they were a mighty band.
Our lofty legions fought not for land,
gold or treasure we did not seek.
None save the despot had reason to fear,
the wrath of our warriors and might of our arms.
In our midst there arose a socialist serpent,
to challenge our efforts to defend our shores.
In the halls of the Congress the air was filled,
with the oral flatulence of the political class.
No byrnied warrior with burnished shield,
can long endure that deafening din.
These mead hall thanes endeavor to kill,
without sword or spear or Frankish axe,
The will of the folk-lands fearless forces,
while yet engaged on foreign soil.
With bovine excrement the battle is engaged,
their journalist minions protecting their flanks.
When shall appear a Hygelacs thane,
in the town by the Potomac the feces to clear.

Best In Show?
READ: Matthew 23:1-12
Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7
Dog shows on TV can be entertaining. The dog owners are impeccably dressed and trot along with their pedigreed pooches as they show off their unique canine beauty. The dogs have been trained to stand confidently with chins lifted high, their shiny coats carefully brushed and styled. To me, they all look like winners.
But I wonder sometimes, when their audience is gone, what are these dogs really like? Do they ever relax and let their sleek fur get so matted theyre mistaken for mutts? Does their doggie breath start smelling foul?
More important, what are we really like when nobodys watching? In Matthew 23:2-7, Jesus rebuked those who were interested in how they looked in public rather than how they were seen by God. He wants us to be obedient, faithful, and committed to Himeven when nobody else sees. The Pharisees focused on the way they were perceived by other people. Gods focus is on what were like inside. His desire is for us to look like His Son.
Were not in a competition with other Christians. God will never ask us to compete for best in show. He measures us by the perfect standard of His Son (Eph. 4:13). And in love, He provides the righteousness we need so that we can be blameless before Him (Col. 1:21-23).
Just live your life before your Lord,
It matters not what others do
Your actions will be weighed by Him
Who metes out judgment just and true. Roe
Living for Gods approval is better than living for mans applause.

Graphic by Billie.
Fog Flowers
I like to call them Fog Flowers, those tiny crystals of rain.
They carpet the world in silence, they glorify dirt in the lane.
There seems all a hush to their presence, the softest tinkle of sound,
And even the animals quiet, as a blanket descends on the town.
Some look upon it as frigid, but warming and soft is the throw,
The flowers asleep in the garden, will snuggle and smile under snow.
But it makes the road too slippery! I hear the complaints starting now.
As it furrows and windblows and softens, the marks that were left by the plow.
You seem to not understand it, this miracle silently wrought.
For where will you go now to find it, when this is what you have sought?
A promise of hope from your Father, a gentle reminder of love,
Each entity fallen from Heaven, is getting a kiss from above.

Poetry and music and nature speak to the soul. Yes, indeed. And I like Robert Frost, particularly, because I can understand him.
So, here is another for winter....."ten million silver lizards"! What imagery. :-)

A Hillside Thaw
To think to know the country and now know
The hillside on the day the sun lets go
Ten million silver lizards out of snow!
As often as I've seen it done before
I can't pretend to tell the way it's done.
It looks as if some magic of the sun
Lifted the rug that bred them on the floor
And the light breaking on them made them run.
But if I though to stop the wet stampede,
And caught one silver lizard by the tail,
And put my foot on one without avail,
And threw myself wet-elbowed and wet-kneed
In front of twenty others' wriggling speed,--
In the confusion of them all aglitter,
And birds that joined in the excited fun
By doubling and redoubling song and twitter,
I have no doubt I'd end by holding none.
It takes the moon for this. The sun's a wizard
By all I tell; but so's the moon a witch.
From the high west she makes a gentle cast
And suddenly, without a jerk or twitch,
She has her speel on every single lizard.
I fancied when I looked at six o'clock
The swarm still ran and scuttled just as fast.
The moon was waiting for her chill effect.
I looked at nine: the swarm was turned to rock
In every lifelike posture of the swarm,
Transfixed on mountain slopes almost erect.
Across each other and side by side they lay.
The spell that so could hold them as they were
Was wrought through trees without a breath of storm
To make a leaf, if there had been one, stir.
One lizard at the end of every ray.
The thought of my attempting such a stray!

Saturday Poetry
Ladies' Day

Humans think that they are so very clever
Yet, they add so many frills to the simplest endeavor
Especially when it comes to romantic affairs of the heart
Where an enormous empty Picnic Basket is an obvious start!
Blue eyed, Berman Belinda noticed it with days to spare
And spread the word the word to her girl friends across the square
Calico Annie told Siobahn, the gorgeous Scottish Fold
Creating a scheme surprisingly simple and equally bold
By the time the ladies had some up with Steps One and Two
Haughty orange Edwina decided to be added to the crew
With striped Alexis and Tuxedoed Ophelia in their evening best
The ladies quietly put every facet of their plan to the test
Arranging themselves comfortably with silence and finesse
While the Parakeet decides that it's best not to be a witness
The lovely ladies wait in anxious purring expectatation
For Belinda's Pretty One's delightful afternoon assignation
