American Jailed Under Patriot Act

This is a report to share with fellow FReepers concerning the Patriot Act. Has anyone heard the name Randy Dees? Randy came to my attention, just recently, via information from a family member, who has known Randy (played music with him) approximately fifteen plus years ago. My family member informed me, one thinks there is nothing that can happen to them under the Patriot Act, but now there is the fate of Randy. My family member thought the Patriot Act was written to protect Americans from terrorists. Now, by the actions taken against Randy, my family member can only shake his head, and is shaken, in his faith, of America's Right to voice or type an opinion. Believe me, the right does not exist.

Randy is an American Citizen, an IT professional, who was working in California, prior to being charged with domestic terrorism under the Patriot Act. I will not insult anyone's intelligence belaboring the benefits or non-benefits of the Patriot Act. Each one, inside the cyber-web community, should be informed enough to realize, that living under the Patriot Act, one can be charged with domestic terrorism, should someone deem an individual a threat by another individual. Randy was deemed a threat because of what he typed on a forum or a blog.

I know not what was typed by Randy, and I do not support violence (Randy's writing may have been interpreted as violence), but sometimes in the heat of an argument, on the web, things are typed or said which may not be what an individual meant to type or say. The post button is hit, and next one knows, one is on one's way to jail. I do not know what was typed by Randy, whereby Randy was arrested, and now is in jail. I will agree the Patriot Act may appear, on the surface to be an Act America needs, but I cannot agree Randy Dees is a domestic terrorist, as charged under the Patriot Act.

Randy is also an Anti-Open Borders American. Till I know differently I have to believe one of the reasons why Randy was locked away, since December of last year, under a bond of more than one-half million dollars is because Randy typed something which caused someone to call the Police. This could happen to any of us, living under the Patriot Act.

Randy is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina. I may have met Randy twelve to fifteen years ago, but neither he nor I discussed politics at that meeting. Randy and I only said a casual Hello, glad to meet you, exchange of pleasantries. Again, I confess, I have not read Randy's writings.

Here in North Carolina, when the boys and girls speak of politics, each of us is normally portrayed as being politically incorrect, backward, Confederate flag waving, misguided cretins, ready to take up arms against the State or the North, unless we belong to the Democrat Party, and the Democrats do run North Carolina and those persons (democrats) are the truly enlightened /sarcasm tag here. Free Speech is not free in our Nation, and even if there is a fire in the theater, the Conservative thing to do is exit the theater in an orderly manner, while if one is politically correct, one refuses to move, sits in the seat while the theater burns down around them. Political correctness is a means to an end. Do not argue for truth in North Carolina, let the building burn down while you sit still is the normal operating procedure. Besides, you'll be hot tonight! Whew, do I need another sarcasm tag?

Again, I do not know what Randy typed on the web, which led to his arrest. But I am warning each of us, living under the Patriot Act, what one types is going to be scrutinized. Since each of us knows this fact, each of us can continue the business of taking back our country, can't we? Maybe yes, or maybe no is my answer.

I do not know if Randy was / is a Conservative, but I do not believe he is a liberal, but Randy may be a liberal, yet Randy did not sit still while the theater burned, nor did Randy attempt to run away. Randy faces jail time, beyond what Randy has already served.

I encourage each person reading (this vanity) to research, with keywords on Google, Randy Dees, California, several pieces of information will come on screen, some will be links to things Randy has written. I have not read any of Randy's writings, but I believe Randy is far more the Patriot, than I will ever be. Besides, if one expresses an opinion, should the one expressing that opinion be jailed?

There is one additional piece of information I cannot confirm concerning Randy. Some of the articles, I have read, say Randy is a former Marine. I do not know this to be true, nor do I know it to be false. My family member says Randy did not serve, our nation, in the Marines.

Each researching Randy's writings should decide, if Randy should have been jailed for his views. Now that I have expressed my views. One day, if my opinion is taken the wrong way, I may be joining Randy in confinement. With all I have written on this forum, nearing 3,000 posts, I may be next to go to jail.

I will pray Randy is released and I will pray I remain free. My family would miss me, as Randy's family misses him.

Based on the number of times you posted variations of “Again, I have no idea what it was that he posted...” I’d say wait a bit, find out, and then come back and update us.

I see no links with his writings. I did see that he was arrested in 06 for assault. I think it was 245PC (assault with a deadly weapon) If convicted he could have been not supposed to have a weapon. Which were found in his house and the two pot plants(?). That would make the weapons charge logical that he was charged with, regardless to the original letter stating that the weapons were legal (could have belonged to someone else, but in his posession) which makes it even worse for him.

I am not making any accusations here, but just hypothetically speaking about "what ifs" based on the very tiny info i have found.

But again... ringing the alarm bell that this is some kind of stomping on rights seems unfounded, at least on what’s here. There was an investigation of something, there was a search warrant issued, there was an arrest made, and the guy has an attorney.

Looks like due process to me.

I truly wish I could help...There is information found by yourself, I did not have. I Thank You, but I continue to believe something is wrong. I have a suspicious mind. I blamed the Patriot Act, Thank You for correcting me. I would think though, one would be able to find Randy’s writings since he is alleged to have written to a forum or blog. I have no link, but that is normally the case with me. My apology to you, if you believe there is nothing there, but I did see something two days ago, I swear, regarding Randy’s writings. I did not copy at the that time, maybe now I should have....for I too am coming up empty.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Hey, go to ACLU’s website page on the Patriot Act.(http://www.aclu.org/safefree/patriot/index.html) Most of the links are to ACLU legal handwringing over the “constitutionality” or such. Not actual abuses. There is that Brandon Mayfield guy who may have a case. I don’t know, I haven’t been following it. But if you take this guy and the Mayfield guy and they both had a valid abuse claim and then multiplied that by 50 you still wouldnt have a case of systemic government abuse of peoples rights. You’d have a case of run of the mill human falibility and stupidity within the law enforcement community.

Don't need to apologize to me fellow FReeper. I never heard of this until you drew my attention to it. I only have a little slice of info from about 5 posts on it. I am not a fan of silencing the voices of the internet myself. But, there is always more to a story and very few times is "all the story" laid out by one side in a single post. The 245PC charge was not even listed in it, but it was the same city and name as the person mentioned.

All the facts will come out if there is anything to it, if not the boys who cry wold will try to make it disappear.

Keep digging and ping me if you find anything. I will do the same.

Thank You, from me, to everyone having posted. And Thank all of you for having a look. I do not know Randy personally, but something about this story stuck me as odd, after a family member told me of what was known, by that family member. My family member has communicated with Randy over the past year, three times, via email. I was told general pleasantries. I do Thank Everyone, for the information, everyone has brought to the thread. I hope I shared something of importance. I too will continue to look for more information, and will come back for look - sees. I Thank everyone, again....(again, there goes that word again). Thanks!

Assault With A Deadly Weapon Fairfield, California (Saturday, March 25, 2006)

On March 25, 2006 at approximately 7:00PM, Fairfield PD dispatch received several 911 calls regarding an unknown disturbance in the 100 block of Tabor Ave.

When officers arrived, they found an unconscious 27 year old female Fairfield resident lying outside of an apartment complex in the 100 block of Tabor Ave. The victim had a head injury, but was eventually able to tell officers that another family member had hit her in the head with a wrench. She was transported by ambulance to North Bay Medical Center, where she received treatment for her injury. The injury was not life threatening.

Officers determined that the family argument was over one family member possibly having inappropriate contact with another younger family member.

Once again, citizens of Fairfield were able to provide officers with information, which led to the arrest of two subjects. Witnesses told the responding officers that there had been a family dispute, which led to the victim being hit in the head with a wrench.

Arrested were Randy Dees a 52 year old Rodeo resident for 245 PC, assault with a deadly weapon and David Parsons a 30 year old Fairfield resident for 245 PC assault with a deadly weapon, 273 (a) PC, child endangerment and 288 (a)(1) PC lewd act on a child.

Sounds like just another parole violator angling for sympathy via the Patriot Act ploy (aka "George-Bush-is- After-Me Syndrome"). ###

Randy Dees a 52 year old

I just took a second look...The Randy Dees, of which I typed would not be 52 years old....He would be in late 30s or early 40s. So mods, please do not pull this thread yet. My error from reading, I sometimes do that.

I will continue to look for information. The 52 year old is not the Randy, I posted concerning. My error! Thank you, I thought you had something, but this Randy Dees is not the Randy Dees, I am posting about. My error....slapping me on the face for my reading ability.

Having information is always a good thing, given that the information is accurate and verifiable. If you can gather any further information don’t hesitate to bring it up. I’d like to know more about this myself.
