Lived in Amherst, Mass. during the l980’s and early 1990’s when Calipari was the coach at UMASS. He and his family brought every player on the team into their home every single day and night. They were one unit, consistently and constantly. One heck of a team they built together. Perhaps the Calipari’s are doing the same thing in Memphis.

I like Calipari, even when he tried his hand at the NBA with the Nets (he would have done fine IMHO given enough time).

I’ll be satisfied if Memphis wins. They’ve been the best team all year.

Anybody But Carolina.

Kansas is an especially good choice, wouldn't you say?

I’d prefer Memphis, but as long as college basketball’s version of the Evil Empire is vanquished, it’s all good.

No way. There are bonus points for Kansas having their revenge on Roy. Hehehehe.

Well, KU by 15 with 2 minutes left.

Should be a really good finals.

Kansas by 5.

Memphis by 5.

No idea who will win. Memphis has more big stars but Kansas has a better team.

Sure, I give KU lotsa love for tonight, and I much prefer Self to that smarmy Roy-boy...didn’t like Roy at KU either.

Come to think of it, KU beating Oklahoma 20 years ago sucked.

But tonight, ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!

Memphis should wear white Monday night. They’ve only lost one game this year. That should count for something.

They will, they were the #2 national seed going into the tourney.

When the NCAA sets up the tourney, after screwing Arizona State (sorry, had to put that in there), they seed the top 4 teams, so if they all make it to the Final Four, as it happened this year, #1 would play #4, #2 would play #3.

The seeds were UNC, Memphis, UCLA, Kansas, in that order.

So the Tigers will wear white, and hopefully get record win #39 Monday.

I’m still happy that UNC got bounced. Can’t stand ‘em.

JUST WOW!

That’s about right. Most impressive win by KU, after surviving thd UNC runs. I don’t think anyone could have expected a 40-12 lead, or that UNC could play that bad.

Memphis poses a big problem for KU. They may have the star players, but Memphis has the athletes and can run step-for-step with the Hawks.

If Memphis keeps hitting free throws, they win a close game. Should be up and down type game, just like the UNC game was.

Billy Packer. Now there is an angry old man.

He wasn’t always like this. Remember when Packer, Dick Enberg and Al McGuire worked games in the 70’s-early 80’s? That was something to look forward to.

Coach John Calipari better really cross his fingers and hope that the right players are at “charity stripe” Monday night. The last thing he wants is to prove the pundits right because Memphis’ free-throw shooting went south at the worst time possible....

Thanks Liz for the thread. The most frustrating thing is that the lead story on the national scene is not KU’s incredible game but the fact that UNC lost. Typical of the coverage Kansas gets.
