they still suck.

They don't suck. You just don't like them.

I read somewhere that Cucurillo had posed naked in some hard-core porn mag and that the Duran members did not like that at all, thus cutting him off the lineup a while back.

I have no idea of that, however he did play with both Terry Bozzio and his (now ex-) wife, Dale Bozzio (all 3 met working for Frank Zappa) and Dale was "featured" in (I think) 2 issues of "Gynecology Illustrated," AKA Hustler Magazine.

Poofty hair bands? When I saw these promo pics for the late '70s band "Angel" I knew they were going to get a lot of asskickings on the road...and perhaps a lot of admirers of the Freddie Mercury persuasion. Why is that middle guy's hand on another one's stomach?

And the guy on the end appears to copping a feel?

If the word "poofty" gets put in the dictionaries I submit one of these photos should be the illustration.

I dated a guy who was really into new age (as well as Swedish death metal... go figure...) and he really liked Yanni. I'm pretty much in agreement with you, can't deny the skill or talent -- but holy cr*p, my ears bled after a while. Just not my liking.

Nickelodeon. It's very trippy, friendly, and my daughter loves it. Another great show is this English show called something like The Mr Man Show. Great 60's-inspired 'swinging hipster' music to that one.

“Devo”

And Disney has jumped in the “Resurrecting the 80’s” bandwagon, emerging with two kids’ bands to honor Devo (with Devo 2.0) and the Go-Go’s (with the Po-Go’s).

Is no one watching the CMA, I mean AMC, I mean ACM awards tonight?

I haven't seen a thread on that for a few weeks.... have they been pretty consistent? Maybe I'm just not on their ping list yet.

Talk about "petty commercialism".... this is the one band that thrived on Fridays getting here so that every TV station, radio, print ad and commercial jingle imaginable would use (to this day) their trademark song "Working For the Weekend". Spandex pants never looked so good....

Well, shoot! I don’t think we get Nick or Disney here. Must be why I haven’t discovered them yet. :/

Grace Slick also had that type of voice...not the same as Benatar, but her voice was also captivating. Although she’s thought of as a 60s artist, she did have hits in the 80s with Starship, so I think she can be counted in this discussion.

I've always said the 2 greatest female rock voices are Ann Wilson and Grace Slick. Although Starship was total cheese, Grace was the best part.

Her best performance in the 80s was probably in this song in ‘82...and she looked pretty nice too:

Grace lent her vocals to Heart's 1985 hit "What About Love?" (in parts of the chorus)
