I have not read much beyond that the SC struck this down but my first question is - can I now drive through DC with a hand-gun?
The short answer: no.
could a couple weeks ago, the trick was not getting caught.
I would-
And I hope MANY DO~!!!
AND THEN.... WATCH THE CRIME RATE FALL~!!
(I am betting that will tick off the media- crime falling will tick off the media... how warped are liberals..?)
that depends on whether you want to be a test case...
it still may be legal to own a handgun, but I don’t know if it gives you the right to carry one....nor not to be arrested or shot on suspicion of something having to do with a handgun on your person.
Good news. We’ll need our guns for the coming Civil War. Hussein Obama and his leftist friends will declare war on individual freedom when he gets elected. Get ready.
What I want to know is can we legally organize a million armed men march on Congress?
The 1986 Firearm Owners Protection Act (FOPA) says you can.
However, NYC and other municipalities have repeatedly violated this law. Although they’re rebuffed in court (citizens released in days, charges not filed), they continue to do so.
Nope. But we can legally organize a million armed PEOPLE march on Congress. (hint: GovernmentShrinker is female, armed, and would be royally pissed-off if anybody organized an armed march on Congress and tried to tell her she couldn't come)
Its a shame decision was only 5-4. I was hoping at least one of those lunatic whackos would join the right side and give the decision more credence.
I carry in NYC, LA, Chi, and any other place that I travel, local laws that usurp my constitutional rights do not apply to me.
Do you have a federal license? A friend of mine had one back when going to school in New Mexico.
Do you know how shocked police were every time he got pulled over in his little Toyota in Manhattan and the cops went into his glove and proclaimed, “Look at what we have here.”
Then he’d show them his license. Even more funny, he’s a little black actor/director and that made it even more funny.
How about a million men and a million women armed march on Congress. LOL
Sounds good to me. Let’s just make sure that’s REAL millions, and not the “Million Moms” sort of “million”.
Today's opinion changes nothing in that regard. It has long been legal to drive THROUGH the District of Columbia with a handgun in your car, as long as:
1. You're on an interstate journey.
2. The gun is secured in your trunk and in a locked container.
3. You don't take the gun out while in DC.
4. You don't stay in DC longer than 24 hours.
5. You're legally entitled to possess the gun both at the point of origin for your trip and at your destination.
(The same rules apply everywhere in the USA, any local gun restrictions to the contrary not withstanding.)
I doubt we will have any trouble reaching that number and that number will in reality probably be on the low side.
