While Apple is the famously fruity iPod and Mac company, a small upstart named Psystar has sought to steal a small amount of Apples thunder by producing clones of the famous Apple computers. Psystar took advantage of Apples recent conversion of all of its personal computers to use Intel microprocessors, the same microprocessors at the heart of ordinary PCs, to make clones that (mostly) run Apples OS X software operating system. Of course, Psystar is not doing this out of benevolence, as its website proclaims:
"Why spend $1999 to get the least expensive Apple computer with a decent video card when you can pay less than a fourth of that for an equivalent sleek and small form-factor desktop with the same hardware[?]"

If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
No one likes cheap knock-offs ( and not like I’ve actually used a Psystar) but in today’s legal world of licensing, the originals always win.
Besides..”Psystar”? It’s not like they called the laptop “Nac” or “INac”.

For the first two weeks, they advertised their computer as the "OpenMac" and "OpenMac Pro." Not smart.
And how much have you used a Mac that qualifies you to even have an opinion on the quality of the Mac?
Many years ago, I went to the Philippines for business/personal stuff. I was in this “infamous” market that markets lots of bootleg items.
I saw a pair of Doc Martens boots for almost 80% of the US price. Exact copy. When you look REAL closer, instead of ‘Doctor Martens”, it said “Doctor Martinez”.

I use XP at home, and Mac Laptop for business because of wireless security.
I just like building my own computers for personal use.
Apple copies Microsoft and deploys its lawyers to surpass the psystar clone maker. If Apple is so good then let the consumer chose between an Apple computer and a cheaper Apple clone.
Psystar has some kind of OS installer that when (only a matter of time) released into the wild will replicate and millions of peons to put Apple OS X on a homebuilt or a Dell or a whatever
LOL. Got that part right.
It already IS in the wild. That's where Psystar got it. Millions haven't used it yet... perhaps thousands. On the other hand, 2.47 million BOUGHT Macs last quarter.
If Apple is so good then let the consumer chose between an Apple computer and a cheaper Apple clone.
That's is Apple's choice. They created Mac OS X, have copyrighted it, and ONLY they have the right to decide how it is to be distributed.
Ah, sorry... missed that.
They don't need to have an installer. You can install Leopard on a regular PC now very easily!
I'll definitly take a good look at that but usually those Mac hacks don't let you update your OS or the audio or Ethernet or some other annoying little thing doesn't work
Anybody that would buy a computer made in Miami (Silicon Gutter?) is an idiot.
