The other day I heard my mother call downstairs to my father, “Honey, there are a bunch of roosters out in the front yard.” Lest you think we live on a farm or out in rural America, let me set you straight. We live in suburban America where houses are stamped next to each other every hundred feet or so. We don’t get many roosters walking in our neighborhood, and if we did they would be cited for jaywalking.

So it was no surprise that curiosity got the best of my father as he ran up the stairs to check out what it was all about. Of course I wasn’t far behind.

Sure enough there were three birds out in front. But they weren’t roosters. Nope. They weren’t hens either. No sirree. What we had were vultures, and they were enjoying a squirrel breakfast special, no doubt ordered scattered, smothered and covered.

I’d never seen one before and apparently neither had my mother.

Never seen a vulture before, huh? Urbanites... sheesh...

They were downstairs and ran upstairs to see what was out front instead of just opening the front door? What a bunch of pansies.

No, downstairs as in the basement. Went upstairs to first floor to go to the door. So...not total pansies.

Bo is a dog. Most everything on that site is written from Bo’s perspective.

Turkey vultures stomp all over the place here in Florida.

Almost as bad as sand hill cranes.

And you can’t do anything about them, either.

Now if you want to see chickens wandering all over the streets, go to Key West.

Bo is a suburban dog with low reading skills. That’s why he don’t know Jack about country birds.

Bo is a good dog. Flycatcher has good friend in Bo.

In what is called “the real world”, my wife and I had a mutt named Beauregard - our firstborn. He lived 17 1/2 years, rode on my motorcycle, helped us raise 2 human children. Beau was a very good dog.
