On 11 August 2008, Bill O'Reilly stated on his radio show: (See 3:16 on the tape)
"John Edwards.
Look this mistress story to me...
Who cares?
Alright, I mean I feel terrible...um...for Elizabeth Edwards and the three children.
I had this story and I could have reported it to you last spring.
We knew it was true.
We knew what was going on.
But I said look...I have already hammered Edwards. I have already you know ground him into dust.
He is out of the race. He has no credibility.
So am I going to lay this on him? And the answer was no.
And there is only one reason why I didn't. And that is because of Elizabeth Edwards. Kay.
I mean the woman is a brave woman. She is suffering through cancer and I am not going to do it.
You know I got to make these decisions and I made them. And I am just not not going to do it."
Perhaps the loofah/falafel dude has his own b*stard child out there somewhere?
But BOR the creep has no problem insulting FReepers as a bunch of KKK rednecks.
Turns out she was privy to the lie all along, Bill.
Once Edwards denied the affair, you had an obligation to your listeners to reveal he was lying. You didn't.
But, then again, you're not a newsman. Just a blowhard.
Awww, Isn’t Bill a nice guy for deciding which news is fit to print?
He knows so much better than the rest of us peons.
Blow-hard Bill needs to retire.
Big deal. O’Reilly made the same judgment the MSM made.
I say he flinched so that he could attract Dems to his show. He practically whines when he complains Obama won’t come on.
Maybe, maybe not, but he;s smart to set himself up by commenting. It would be the same as Rush talking about drug abuse in hollywood.
Bill can do whatever he wants with his own show. Thankfully, he is just one little battleship in a toilet bowl full of little floating battleships, and his individual decisions to spike stories are meaningless.
Ahhh well ya know pervs always stick together. Hell, BillO and Silky Pony probably had a good chuckle together about the joys of banging/harassing staffers.
How’s your falafel, BillO? It sickens me that this guy wrote a book for kids.
Yeah, I heard that last night. If anyone in the USA believes this, then they’re as big a moron as O’Reilly thinks we are.
I just realized I screwed up the title. “Knew” not “new”.
I am just very happen that the MSM which filters news that it deems unflattering to their ideology now has a big problem on its hands — the new media — websites like FR and bloggers.
Otherwise, these stories would never see the light of day.
The days of media types like BOR/NBC/ABC/CBS/MSNBC/LAT/NYT/etc dictating and censoring what the ‘peons’ in flyover country are allowed to know are over.
The Michael Richards tape was broadcast on every major network for 5-7 days, including the Gasbag Show.
Why does the Bloviator refuse to play racist language when it comes from Jesse Jackson?
O'Reilly is such an arrogant little POS.
When it comes down to it, he'll always be that Entertainment Insider guy...he bows at the temple of celebrity....
We can access things the MSM doesn't want us to know.
Ain't it cool?
He doesn't have his mouth set to interview FReepers on his show.
O’Reilly-Edwards....pot, kettle.
O’Reilly Settles Sex Harass Suit
Lawyers For Fox News Announce Settlement With Fox Producer
Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly said Thursday he and a former producer of his talk show have agreed to settle their legal dispute over her allegations of sexual harassment, and his accusations that she was trying to shake him down.
“This brutal ordeal is now officially over, and I will never speak of it again,” he said on his talk show, “The O’Reilly Factor.”
Andrea Mackris, 33, who was a producer on the show, filed a lawsuit against the top-rated TV host Oct. 13, alleging O’Reilly made a series of explicit phone calls to her, advised her to use a vibrator and told her about sexual fantasies involving her.
The New York Daily News, citing unidentified sources, reported that O’Reilly had agreed to pay Mackris anywhere from $2 million to $10 million. Separately, the New York Post said it was believed that O’Reilly paid “multimillions of dollars” to settle the suit.
Earlier that day, O’Reilly, 55 and married with two children, had filed a lawsuit accusing Mackris and her lawyer of trying to extort $60 million in “hush money” to make the case quietly go away.
O’Reilly is host of the top-rated prime-time cable news program - and he’s seen his ratings go up by 30 percent since the case was filed.
The out-of-court settlement came on the eve of a courtroom fight over audiotapes, reports CBS News Correspondent Kelly Cobiella.
O’Reilly lawyer Ronald Green had said he believed there were tapes of conversations between the two and asked a court to compel Mackris to produce them so they could be played publicly.
“I know that he does not fear what is on the tapes,” Green said at the time.
O’Reilly told his viewers Thursday night, “This matter has caused enormous pain, but I had to protect my family, and I did. All I can say to you is please do not believe everything you hear and read.”
Shortly before “Factor” aired, O’Reilly’s lawyer Green, issued a statement saying the cases and claims had been withdrawn and all parties agreed there was no wrongdoing by O’Reilly, Mackris or Mackris’ lawyer Benedict Morelli.
Morelli did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
Green’s statement about the settlement did not mention money, and it could not be learned immediately whether it was a factor.
“Out of respect for their families and privacy, all parties and their representatives have agreed that all information relating to the cases shall remain confidential,” Green’s statement said.
When the accusations began, Green refused to confirm or deny specific things that Mackris claimed O’Reilly said to her, but he said at the time that, “Mr. O’Reilly denies that he has done anything that rises to the level of unlawful sexual harassment.”
Can't FOX get someone who is scrupulously honest and tough to replace him? I know God made only one Tony Snow (RIP), but there are good and capable people around who could adequately fill in where O'Reilly fails.
