Two off-duty female cops yelled, "We are the police!" - and then pistol-whipped a Bronx man in what authorities call a case of road rage.
NYPD Officers Michelle Anglin, 37, and Koleen Robinson, 24, were charged with assault, gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon for the Williamsbridge beatdown.
It took 25 staples to close the gash in Marlon Smith's head, authorities said.
Smith, 35, had pulled up alongside Robinson's black Suburban with his driver's side car door wide open as the two cars sat near E. 218th St. and White Plains Road at 5p.m. Friday.
"Close the door, you f------ a------!" one of the two off-duty transit cops yelled as Smith came perilously close to scraping Robinson's SUV.
Smith proceeded to make a big mistake: He yelled at one of the officers, "You are a f------ b----!"

This whole unfortunate event could have been avoided if the police women had politely asked him to close his door. And he in turn should have responded with a “Thank you,” for letting him know that his door was open. Swearing is the bane of modern society.
at least one cop’s name appears to be black....wonder if the victim was white? hate crime??
Koleen? As in, the Irish name Coleen with a silly variant spelling?
Granted, I know of two black women named Erin off the top of my head, but still. Doesn't sound like a "black name" to me. She may well be black, but it's not like she was called Lakeisha or something.
Could have been avoided if they hadn’t yelled at him, if he hadn’t yelled back, if they hadn’t taken being yelled at as a reason for attacking. Just because someone yells something at me (on the street, in a car, wherever) doesn’t mean I need to respond, let alone beat them.

Coleen (variant spelling aside) isn’t a very common name for any ethnicity anymore, but I’d bet you good money there are a lot more white Coleens than black ones.
Since the issue of race was brought up in the context of possible “hate crime” charges, I went searching, and other blogs mention all three are the same race.

ok, so it isnt a ‘hate crime’ per se, but i called it right..funky name equals ‘sistah soulja’ hopefully, off to jail with both of them....
What's the problem? They yelled "Police ! " and then had their way with him, SOP for cops these days.
My guess is that the guy was using his door to block the other car in order to get a jump start in a stop light grand prix. Not much to like here about either party.

A witness who tried to break up the brawl heard one or both of the women warn Smith, "Do you know who you are f------ with? We are the police!"
And they get into a brawl over such a common, minor traffic event? These are professionals?
Good God...Seems half the people in America have lost their freaking minds.
