The wooden ones look nicer but the are way more expensive. I also like to set up shop and put on Rush. Of course ya gotta ask the customer first. If no to Rush then it's sports talk.

Wow! That is crazy! It's a testament to how far we've fallen as a nation. Feet mixed with clay and iron I tell ya.

I never ask, I just set up my sawhorshes and turn on Rush. I love garage door work, from custom wood to steel, and am never alone thanks to a really good radio.

Gaaaahhhh!

Hehehe...the people up top are probably saying “WHO DID THAT?”

But...always better to find out now than when the customer gets it...

"I don’t have a college education...Education is by no means a measure of one’s common sense."

I do have a college education and couldn't agree with you more. The problem as I see it, is an inversion that has occurred between academia and society at large over the past century.

There was a time when people who were goal oriented and knew what they wanted in life went into academia to prepare themselves for careers as architects, actors, writers, accountants, business managers, biologists, engineers, etc. Society then began placing an emphasis simply on having a degree, and now people matriculate at colleges and universities to figure out what they want to do when they grow up. While that, in and of itself is not necessarily a bad thing, the current saturation of liberal/socialist/communist ideology amongst faculty leads to indoctrination rather than education.

Those of us who pursued bachelor's degrees because we were passionate about our love for a certain career or subject matter graduate with the same degree as those who entered higher education simply because they could.

My company doesn’t do residential work anymore because people complain about what we have to charge. It’s really interesting how many liberals with Kerry (yeah, they’re still on there) and Obama stickers on their cars don’t want to pay what union labor costs.

I guess they think it should be free for them....

I've known, and seen, some very "educated" people that couldn't find their own asses with both hands tied behind their backs.

Education does not always equal (!=) intelligence, or smarts. Some of the greatest leaders in history (not just American) haven't had great educations. But they had intelligence and smarts and they believed in themselves.

I’m fine with carpentry and building stuff out of wood. Garage doors are a bit heavy and unwieldy for me.

"I just can't stand her, she is so uneducated and you should hear what the people in Europe are saying about her."

She's been worked over her entire life, giver 'er a break! I can almost guess her age by her world-view. It's very clever of course, but she went to good schools, ahem, and one of the first things inculcated is that stupid people are to be looked down upon. Who is "stupid"? Why, anyone who hasn't gone to the schools where they get to define stupidity! The Europe comment is telling - and anyone who has been to Europe sees things to admire and, probably emulate. But the rank and file Americans really don't like European customs - like say, the two-beer lunch break which is enshrined. They look at you like you're crazy if you suggest that. How about $3,000 to $5,000 to get ones drivers license? Extensive drivers training is required, city driving, highway, night driving both city and highway, wintertime, etc. There is a hefty fine imposed for running out of fuel and leaving the car on the road. So yeah. Let's "be more like Europe". What an idiot - they don't REALLY want to be like Europe, they'd scream bloody murder - they just want to instill a sense of self-loathing in others, because they have issues of their own that won't be resolved here.

It also never dawned on them that even though it would make us more leftist, scrapping the Electoral College would make things more exclusive as only our big cities would be calling all of the shots.

No offence! Honestly!

I know there was no offence meant, but I could not let the statement slip by without comment. I doubt I am the exception.

Have a great day!

Well I looked at her problem and it was simply two 1/2 inch nuts and bolts she had taken out of the tow arm that connects the opener to the door. All that was required was to simply put the two bolts back into the holes that were there and put the nuts on and tighten them.

I bet if it has been a chemical spray nozzle or maybe an industrial oven she would have had that fixed in a jiffy.

A German engineer? We’ve had enough with German engineers.

Wonder if she designs ovens, per chance?

Sometimes it's worth risking your job to make a comment like that.
He owns the company. His job would not have been at risk. He was just too nice.
