Damn straight!
Just sayin...
Armalite makes excellent rifles and carbines. AR10’s are nice; I’ve got one similar to the one you posted, but in the A4 configuration. My favorite Armalite is my AR30 in .338 Laupa magnum. If I do my part I can blast pumpkins and watermelons over a mile away.
There’s a quote out there saying that if you’re burying it, that means it’s time to use it or something to that effect...
I’m bitterly clinging to my NM Garand. Managed to buy a bunch of Lake City 30.06 black tip a while back - that and a few thousand rounds of regular ball add up to a very bad day for our domestic enemies.
For a ‘modern’ battle rifle, I like my StG 58 FAL. Come to think of it, I need to bitterly cling to that FAL on the 400 yard range for a little refresher. Looks like we’re going to need it.
AR10 is best choice in .308 AR’s.
Highly recommend A4 option for detachable carry handle. Flat top rail is far superior mount for optics.
As to optics, TA01 or TA11 are top notch. I would avoid red dots like Aimpoint or EOTech for .308, you’ll want some magnification.
My first choice though might be a low power variable from Leupold or Trijicon. Both make optics in 1.5-5x and 1-4x respectively that work very well as multipurpose scopes, and are in $600 range vs. $1000. For 16” gun the Leupold Mark 4 MRT with illuminated reticle would do nicely.
Correction; low power variable Trijicon Accupoint is 1.25-4x.
yesterday i put a Binelli Nova 12-gauge, 5-shot pump on hold. i'll have it by saturday.
got it for home security, but with a slug i can use it for deer. i know shotguns are slightly off topic, but i am just so psyched. i went in looking for a Mossberg, but they just don't compare to the Binelli from what i saw.
You might want to have that beauty in hand before NOV 3, just in case. If Obama loses, there will probably be riots (as some on the Left are already saying, making it virtual-permission for the inner cities)... and if Obama wins, it might not be much different. Look at any victorious major city after a Super Bowl or NBA Finals.
I agree with Domandred. When you are afraid they will try to come and get them, then you ought to be using them against the people who control the JBT’s.
308 is considered a “pistol round” for some idiotic reason therefore you cannot get AP in that caliber. You can get the pulled bullets and load your own.
That is because of regulations in the ATF that allow them to ban armor piercing 'pistol' ammo. And someone made ONE pistol shooting a .308 round. SO the ATF 'banned' the ammo.
I hate to say it, but it's getting to the point that it's better to just do whatever you want and ignore the law. Compliance is becoming outright impossible.
I would argue that the time to bury the guns is also the time to dig them up for immediate use. Unless you're spreading them around to different caches as fall back positions, that is. Don't forget spare mags (LOTS) and ammo (also lots).
Mine arrived from the dealer with the wrong buffer in the buffer tube. The buffer for the AR-10 is practically identical to that for the AR-15s, but is shorter to accomodate the longer .308 round. It would almost work with the wrong buffer.
Also, there was a slight lack of smoothness in the feed ramp where the barrel meets the receiver. The point of a cartridge could bounce off that and not chamber properly. A local gun smith polished it mirror bright for me and it worked flawlessly after that. It's a great gun.
I’m with you Centurion, I love my .223’s and for reaching out, my .30-06 Remington 700 BDL, works real fine!!
What are you paying for lapua ammo these days?
Buy lots of mags, that’s my only advice. At least 20, even if they are expensive as hell. You will probably never get another change to buy more from AR, and they are pretty rare already in the 2nd hand market. The mags you get with the rifle will have to last your lifetime, come what may.
That’s the one bad thing about Laupa ammo. It typically runs about $5 to $8 a round. The last time I bought any, I paid around $100.00 for 20 rounds. I now have 120 cases that I hand-load. If I didn’t do that I’d have a hard time justifying keeping the rifle. As it was I had a hard time justifying the purchase to Mrs P8riot.
