After more than 25 years of Air Force experience, I dont want another .223 in my hands. I love my 223. If I need something stronger that's what a bolt action 30-06 is made for.

I have an
M1 Garand for that,
but it's long, and it's heavy.

I’ve got an old Colt SP1 (made about 1970) just like they had when I went in (without the auto). No brass deflector, no forward assist. I love it.

The future is "stealth," not "range."
