It has an emaciated face that only its mother could love -- grudgingly.
It's completely bald, except for a few unruly tufts of hair.

And yet, the hairless Chinese Crested might be the perfect pooch for President-elect Obama and his family.
"Certain to turn heads," this dog is "exceptionally loving and affectionate with children," says the American Kennel Club, which included the Chinese Crested among five recommended breeds for the Obamas. The Kennel Club chose breeds that would be best for Malia, who has asthma.
But how does someone cuddle up with a dog that has no fur?
"I've held many Chinese Crested dogs," said Lisa Peterson, a spokeswoman for the American Kennel Club. "It's a very different experience. They give off a radiant heat. You feel it because there is no fur in the way."

I suggest a mixed breed mutt. They make great pets.
I’d go with a black poodle or black lab.
The POTUS puppy - just another photo-op and to reinforce that Obama is not a Muslim (dogs are a no-no) - so why not go all the way in deference to William Ayers and get a miniature Vietnamese piglet?
Chinese Cresteds are about the freakiest and scariest looking doggies I’ve seen.
Somehow it only seems appropriate.
But I vote for a French bulldog, myself.
IMO the only one that fits is the Chiuaua (with no offence to Chiuaua owners out there:
1. Looks stupid
2. Is stupid.
3. Has a big mouth.
4. Talks big, can't back it up.
Because I feel it’s my duty as a citizen to do *something* to help the new president, I will vote for a Boxer. You cannot find a sweeter, more loyal and more fun dog.

Only half black lab. Also, he can't get a pedigreed dog because Obama will never turn over its papers. :-)
We have Weims, and since they’re a German breed (and the Germans love Obama so much) maybe that would be an appropriate breed to pick. However, they require adequate exercise and I don’t see Obama as one who enjoys taking the dogs for runs or out in the field to hunt.
I was going to suggest a Border Collie. They are usually a mix of black and white, and SOMEONE in the White House needs a brain!
Then I realized the BC would be smart enough to run away and find an owner who doesn’t hate dogs...and it seems Michelle doesn’t want ANY white associated with her family.
