Whoever out there on the BangList group is adding the keyword 'banglist' to all these non-RKBA related threads, knock it off.
So far, we've got banglist pings going out on all sorts of irrelevant threads such as any mention of Congressman Henry Waxman taking over a chairmanship from Rep. Dingell and those where Obama's CHANGE.ORG website defines anyone making over $100k as 'the rich'. These are not RKBA issues no matter how you try to justify some tenuous link.
Whoever is doing it, stop putting 'banglist' into every little thread that captures your attention for whatever reason. This ping list is for articles and issues directly related to the Right To Keep And Bear Arms.
Thank you.
I noticed that, too.
Admin moderator should be able to see who put in irrevelant threads.
I was going to ask what RKBA meant, but you answered it. Thank you.
Someone told me that the mods can see who adds keywords. If so, they can find the crank.
You would think they would be nicer to a group that, by definition, is probably well armed.
Full auto...suppressed..Brrrraapp!
I also want to point out that I don’t believe that ‘banglist’ keyword deserves to be used in a thread where the local news reports that someone in Cricket Chirp Minnesota gets shot in the ankle with a BB gun.
BTW, i could almost see dingell as deserving a banglist keyword, as i think he’s he’s the only A+ nra rated dem.
maybe we’ll get lucky and he’ll end up on some comittee where his pro-gun stance will benefit us.
-—if you are a firearms owner unaware of the difference between Dingell and Waxman on firearms issues, I suspect you will be very aware of it within a few months-—
Who’s got the ping list for the bang list?
I would like to be added.
THANK YOU.
Banglist is the only reason I come to FreeRepublic. I love it.
If some news story posted on FR doesn't have anything immediately concerning RKBA, don't add 'banglist' to it. It's that simple.
Otherwise, the banglist ping list would fill up with every mention of Rosie O'Donnell every time she opens her big fat mouth to heap more cupcakes inside -- You know, just because Rosie O'Donnell hates guns.
Ping
You may want to choose a different keyword and a new list for your Dingell and Waxman threads. The banglist is a specific ping list. Please don’t use that for those threads.
I’m glad to see your thread. I have sent a few dozen of these to the mods, finally I just stopped.
“Please remove this thread from the banglist. It is not 2nd Amendment related.
Thanks”
Message received; I will abide by your wishes. I’ve been on FR for 8 years, and intend on staying and contributing until someone takes my keyboard from my cold, dead fingers.
However, I do disagree with you and others that the replacement of Dingell with Waxman is of no importance to gun owners (and, pretty much by definition, those who use the Banglist). I genuinely hope that I’m wrong, but the promotion of Waxman will likely result in some restrictions and possibly a ban on the use of lead bullets (or at least a serious attempt to do so by Waxman).
FYI, I only found out about the significance of this change after having received an email from Gun Owners of America (GOA). One would think that the people running that organization understand threats to the RKBA fairly well.
Again, I’ll abide by the request. I’d just appreciate it if people would open their minds a bit. IMHO the Banglist should be connected to threads a bit more broad in subject than “Obama proposes complete gun ban, turn them in or die” or something similar. The enemies of the RKBA have in the past, currently do and will continue to try to undermine our rights in a multitude of different ways besides a frontal assault.
Generally, the BANGLIST keyword applies to anything that has to do with gun rights, gun ownership, or gun usage. Other articles that occasionally get the “Banglist” ping include stories about Britain’s “Knife Ban”, “Sub zero” tolerance in schools (IE A kid wearing a shirt with a gun on it and getting suspended), and the occasional story about explosives. Any other use of it is abuse of the keyword IMHO.
Thank you for abiding by the request, but let's get it correct that any logical connection to Rep. Waxman's internal tiff with Rep. Dingell over the chairmanship of the House Select Committee on Energy and the issue of RKBA from the stories that were posted and 'banglisted' three times is dubious at best.
But thank you, though.
