Didn’t Rupert Murdoch tell fox crew to lay off obama and let him fail on his own?

I don’t think I have ever met a person who actually likes Shepherd Smith. Why does he have his own show?

Because nobody else will do one with him! ;-)

I’d rather see them create a real conservative broadcast news station.

You gotta remember, broadcast gets much more viewers than cable does AFAIK.(last I saw, Fox was in the 2 million viewers range and is the most successful while CBS is generally viewed as a disaster and typically gets 7-8 million a night)

A new conservative outlet to compete with Fox/Cable to only get a low million viewership number doesn’t seem to make as much sense as it would to create a new outlet to compete with abc/nbc/cbs to try to get a high million viewership number.

I like the idea though. I just wish there was broader outreach given the current limitations of cable, talk, and internet.

And about XM/Sirius....... I’ll consider getting it if localism(fairness doctrine) does it’s dirty work. I definately don’t want to be cut off.

Which makes me wonder......... What do the AM talkers have planned in a post localism/fairness doctrine U.S.A.?

Totally agree. There is nothing “Fair & Balanced” about being lied to by liberals. Give us the straight truth and the station wouldn’t be able to sell ad time fast enough!

I’m hoping for new management in a couple of the big 3 that will recognize their editorial position is the problem. Shilling is not Free Press.

It would really help if they would first hire reporters. BOR is a commentator so is Smith. H&C are not reporters but actually commentators no real news their either. Their show as well is a joke now. A NYC neocon vs a NYC Liberal? It's getting very old. Brit Hume is a reporter and a good one but needs to ditch the current format and actually report the news. Enough of Mort, Fred, Juan, and the other guys who's routines and comments everyone should now know by heart. The mandatory doses of Jerry {Snidely Whiplash} Rivero on every show Thursday-Sunday especially need to go. He's a tabloid has been and cheapens the network just by being there.

Bring back John Gibson and give him the Shep or BOR slot. Give one of their best actual reporters say Patty Brown an hour show. She could take H&C's slot and still keep ratings up as she actually can report the news in a professional manner so you can take her serious. Let her use the best part of FOX News which is their foreign correspondents. On that they are tops but do not utilize them near enough. Move some of the better of those to U.S. venues. Ditch the highly irritating non news Fox News alert and instead have the reporters just tell us. Get s news crew to cover after 10:00pm and weekends if CNN can do it so can FOX. Shorten the talking head shows and extend top of the hour and half hour news to 5-7 minutes to cover headlines etc.

I’d rather see them create a real conservative broadcast news station.

It's been tried before and the NEOCON DC insiders consider them to be too big a threat. They worm their way in and destroy it from within. Back in the mid 1990's Paul Weyrich launched such a network. It was good while it lasted. Then came the NEOCON's and with them the Liberals.

Fox has plenty of reporters. But they are all out in the field. The people that Fox puts on screen are not reporters.

Some of your ideas are pretty good. But maximizing cable still limits the amount of facts that get out

Broadcast is (should be) our next step.

You mean NET?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Empowerment_Television

Net isn’t what I’m talking about. NET is more like Fox than anything, even worse. From what I’m seeing, NET was based solely on ‘dish networks’.

At least Fox enjoys both cable and satellite support.

I’d like to see what NET’s viewership numbers were. But given that it was limited to ‘dish networks’, it couldn’t have even come near to what Fox is able to do.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cable_and_satellite_television_networks

I hate to say it, but I’m not surprised it failed. Who would buy a dish/service simply to get one single channel?

See, part of the problem is decentralization.(which I should’ve brought up sooner) Fox already has stations all over the nation. I have a fox affiliate right here in my market.

For someone to come in brand new, create affiliates all over the nation would take a tremendous amount of capital. Billions, if not even trillions, who knows?

We need conservatism(broadcast) that can be had with a set of rabbit ears and nothing more; that goes above and beyond AM radio.

Fox has a nightly news program - “Special Report” with Brit Hume.

Check it out sometime. It’s on at the same time as the others you listed, except that it’s an hour long, where theirs are half-hour newscasts. So it comes on a half-hour earlier.

Did you ever even see it? Actually it was good and had an excellent line up. It started out on C-band satellitte thats how I found it. Back then C-band was pretty popular even in urban areas and the small dishes hadn't quite got a foot hold. It later went to cable but at that point it was no longer N.E.T. but rather America's Voice which was a NEOCON/Liberal station. America's Voice happened after Weyrich had been removed from the chairman and control of N.E.T. and a more liberal format was taken. Not to make it work but rather sink it. For example Armstrong Williams had a show on N.E.T. by himself. But on America's voice his co-host was Ellen Ratner. Another show had Bob Beckell on it. Get the picture?

Big toes in the GOP like Trent Lott were getting stepped on at N.E.T. and rightfully so. NET's origional host were Janet Parshall, Major Garrett, Bill Lind, Tom Jippin, Tom Fitton, Brad Keena, John Lofton, Weyrich, Alan Keyes, Mike Reagan, and others I can't remember right off. It was highly viewer interactive actually. Ever talk to a congresscritter on TV? I have several times :>} Before FR became popular NET was chewing up and spitting out the goods on the Clintons.

The simple truth though is no Conservative network is going to be allowed to exist until the GOP is taken out as a party and replaced with a true Conservative one. Conservatives of today have no real representation or voice in the GOP except a few congresscritters and senators. NEOCONs control the rest including who the party supports. There is simply too many persons with too much pull to get it shut down before they can even get a good start.

The only one I can think of who I believe is a good news reporter at the station is Patty Brown. She's earned her place there as a reporter. You're right the rest are in the field and it's a waste because they get so little coverage time.

Brit needs to dump his buddies and just give the news. I’m tired of hearing the Beltway Boys Mort and Fred finish each others sentences. As I posted on another thread. When I see them I think of the Patty Duke Show theme song.

That’s really not what I meant, but I suspect Schwep would like it.

No, I didn’t see it but I believe you that it was high quality.

And you may be right about the representation of a party is needed, becuase you’re right about the GOP. Too many libs like McCain running around.

You know much more about this than I, so I concede to the master. :-)

I’ve seen it a few times.

I just don’t have cable myself(or satellite), so I’ll end up catching it at someone else’s house.

I tell you what though, it sure would be nice if one day I’m flipping channels with my ultra reliable rabbit ears(LOL) and I happen to hit my local Fox affiliate and there’s Brit Hume doing his special report at 6:30.
