There is a really nice one on Gunbroker right now for $925.

As a former duck and goose hunter, the Browning gets my vote.
My error for not stating that, upfront.
It’s primarily for 1) home defense, 2) riot control, 3) target (paper), 4) and “whatever angrily comes my way” (after reading several nasty articles about rioters etc).
If the whole system goes south you might need to shoot ducks, geese, and rabbits for food...
Nope
Franchi I 12. Black, synthetic, not too much kick, cycles very fast. Around $700 if you shop around.
My Remington 870 fills the bill for me; the slide makes a big noise in the middle of the night.

Only if it was made before 1986.
I love how the government has urinated on the Constitution for so long, and out in the open too.
Of course they don't. If they did, we wouldn't have any problems in this country.
If memory serves that’s still that inertia system, which might be good if you can guarantee that the gun will never have to shoot light skeet shells. The Beretta can shoot anything.
You got that right!
We have reason not to trust them, but they have no reason not to trust us.
What you don't need... Fancy engravings, vent ribs, night sights, or even three inch capability. {2-3/4 inch shells are quite lethal}
No experience with the new Beretta, but generally an auto is less reliable than a pump. But even pumps are never 100% fool-proof. About the only one I ever saw that never gave trouble in rough use was an inexpensive {oddly enough} model 1200 Winchester.
Bennelli Super Black Eagle II. AWESOME !!
Get the Saiga 12, a few 10 round magazines, and 500 rounds of #4 buckshot - should be able to put that together for $1000.
I’ve shot thousands of light rounds out of my Bennelli without a misfire. It’s not true that they can’t handle light loads. Mine (and the others my buddies have) do great with all sorts of loads.
Saiga 12, AK-47 reliability and it points like your own forefinger.
Buy extra magazines while you can.
Hard to beat a Remington 870 12 ga pump for a home defense shotgun.
They’re readily available, easy to load and shoot, and reliable. Also easy to disassemble with minimal tools, and parts and after-marketaccessories are readily available.
You can do most maintenance yourself if you’re average handy. The most widely used shotgun by law enforcement.
Take a look at Impact Guns...Currently out of stock, but they’re accepting orders.
Add an adjustable stock, and some ghost ring sights if you wish, but it’s good to go out of the box...At less than $400, leaves you lots of $$$ to buy ammo, a case and cleaning gear...
Pickup 100-200 rounds of 00Buck and 50 rounds of slugs in 2 3/4”, and you’re set.

saiga 12
The unique thing about the saiga is that it does not have a tube magazine. Being a box magazine, you get two big advantages. The first is that you can change magazines...much faster reloads. The second advantage is that magazine capacity is totally independent of barrel length.
In a doomsday scenario, or all out civil war...there will not be any enforcement of the stupid firearm laws we’ve accumulated over the last hundred years. Short barreled shotguns will NOT get you arrested in an all out civil war. So it would be very advantageous to have a shotgun at home that could very easily be shortened via hacksaw without disrupting the magazine capacity in the event of an all out civil war.
The saiga 12 is just such a shotgun.
