There is a float in the parade saluting organ donation. On it is supposed to be a floral depiction of a girl from Bartlett, Tn who was in a car crash and died. Rachel Escue died five days after the crash. Her sister was seriously injured and nearly died. That was fifteen months ago. She is doing alright now. Rachel intended for her organs to be donated if she were to die. She made that known when she got her drivers license. She was 18 at the time of her death. Her liver, kidneys, pancreas, and heart went to five different people. She must have been one hell of a person. A local girl that made a great and beautiful contribution out of a tragedy.

So this is a great honor and recognition for here selfless donations that allowed five people to continue living. As of 10:34 am CST, the float hasn’t come through. I am looking for it. I hope it is shown.

Happy new year to all FReepers. May it be safe and prosperous.

Remarkable. Thanks for sharing that.

Argggh....I'll stick with HGTV and Jan Karl; that gal never ages a day - remains highly hittable.

Watching this on HDTV sure beats being there. As a kid I spent 3 or 4 miserable New Year's Eves on a cold curb, or in a quarter mile long line to take a leak.

I believe the float is called Donate Life. From the list of floats on the Tournament of Roses website, it’s the closest description to what it could be.
