When an Iraqi journalist hurled his shoes at George W. Bush last month at a Baghdad press conference, the attack spawned a flood of Web quips, political satire and street rallies across the Arab world. Now it's inspired a work of art. A sofa-sized sculpture , a single copper-coated shoe on a stand carved to resemble flowing cloth was formally unveiled to the public Thursday in the hometown of the late Iraqi ruler Saddam Hussein.

Thats the thanks we get for giving them the freedom to build it. Why did we even care that these people were being tortured and dying under Saddam Hussein. These Arab arent worth the life of one American soldier.

The woman with the thumbs-up... this gesture means “flipping the bird” among Arabs doesn’t it?

This is Saddam’s hometown. Odds are that they are relatives of him and probably were the ones doing the torturing and murdering.

Don’t they have a local supplier of Che Ts? That would make the celebration complete. Huge turnout.
The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze.
It’s all a PRAVDA caused time warp.

Given what Saddam Hussein brought to his country in his ugly despotism I am not surprised that his followers would honor this man.

I guess they must really miss the days of living under a dicatatorship. Must miss the killing, maiming, torturing, etc. Clearly they appreciate the sacrifice of AMERICANS to give them the freedom to create this.
I’m not sure when I gave up on the arab world / the muslims that inhabit it - I just continue to get continual affirmation of that decision.

If Bush had shoes thrown at him by these islamo-muslims, what do you suppose they will "throw" at our boy obammer?
Perhaps the severed heads of a few of the feeelthy infidels?
That should make obammer feel right at home!

Look, our goal was to give them freedom right? That includes political expression we do not like -comes with the territory. Same with the Bush-Chimp and Hussein Obama stuff. We should be happy for them. What do we prefer, they remain a frightened little child hiding under our skirt? Appreciate the irony and move on.

These Arab arent worth the life of one American soldier. Oh, for crying out loud...a few poeple from Tikrit for Heaven's sake, who could even be related to Saddam do not represent all of Iraq.
Let's have a little perspective here, shall we?
