Bangkok: A hippopotamus swallowed a circus dwarf in a "freak accident" in northern Thailand according to a columnist in the Pattaya Mail.

The Grapevine column reported" A circus dwarf nicknamed Od,died recently when he bounced sideways from a trampoline and was swallowed by a yawning hippopotamus waiting to appear in the next act"

"Vets said Hilda the Hippo had a gag reflex which caused her to swallow. More than 1000 spectators continued to applaud wildly until they realized there had been a tragic mistake"

I recieved a scanned newspaper copy of the above article in a email from a realtive. In order to post it I have faithfully transcribed it. I believe it to be true ... however I cannot prove it as I have no source.

There was a question on “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” a few years ago — I don’t remember what the four choices were, but I think it was lion, tiger, hippo, and crocodile.

You need to check things out before you post them here. I got that email five years ago. It wasn't true then. I doubt it's true now. Only the place has been changed to fool the innocent and naive.

Sort of.

Hippos mostly eat grass but they are known to eat carrion for sure and are reported to have been seen eating other types of meat as well.

It's sort of like saying a cat is a carnivore. They are but they will eat certain grasses and plants on occasion. Very few animals are pure anything.
