Beautiful blue skies, not too hot, not too cold. The young Ospreys are all over the place, the older birds are paired off, the new guys are on their own.
The cross is stainless steel, 208 feet tall. It is on the grounds of Mission Nombre De Dios, next to Hospital Creek. This is said the be the site of the first mass said in the New World. Makes no difference if you are Catholic or not, it is a beautiful place to visit, sit, and contemplate.

Just beautiful pics!
I’ll have to drive over there maybe tomorrow...live in Jax.
Beautiful, but I’m gonna disagree with you on the “not too cold” part. Today was definitely too cold (live in Saint Johns County).
Love St. Augustine. I have many relatives there.
Great pics.
I just wore a windbreaker, stayed in the Sun, it was nice! Once I start chasing pictures I guess I don’t notice much else, LOL!
Please add me to list. Great photos.
Gotcha!

St. Augustine is a treasure. Go on sunday, and watch colonial Spanish soldiers fire their muskets and cannons from the Castillo San Marcos. This is a MUST for anybody in NE Florida. The Ripley’s “Believe it or Not” museum is worth every penny and much more, kids of all ages will be amazed at every turn.
I have been to the cross. St. Augustine is a beautiful city.
Great pictures! I live in downtown St Augustine and sometimes I walk up to Nombre de Dios just to sit by the inlet. A small group I sing with will be singing a chant vespers in the little old chapel (La Leche, in the center of the park area next to the old cemetery) on Monday night at 6:00 pm.
Well, you’re bound to see me around, in my daughters dark blue Ford Focus, or on the black motorscooter. I hang out along the ICW, and down at Maria Sanchez Lake. I can also be found around the retention ponds at the malls. I’m an older guy with a full white beard. Wave at me!
I’ll be on the lookout for you! I bet a camera might be another distinguishing feature...
Lovely pictures, thanks!
Your work is fantastic. What camera did you use?
I use a Panasonic FZ30 most of the time now, with an old Olympus C2100UZ for back up. The Panasonic is having some issues, lots of mileage on it, after I get the property taxes paid I may have to go shopping. I'd go for a DSLR, but the lenses I'd need would be very expensive, I shoot at 500mm equivalent a lot.
You don't seem to need them. I will stick with film as long as it lasts. Still a purist. I use a Nikon N80 and a Nikon N70. Black and white is my strongest suit. A dying art I'm sorry to say.
At the rate I shoot, film would bankrupt me. Saturday was slow, only got 83 shots. With digital I don’t feel guilty about wasting film on questionable shots, and they sometimes turn out better than the ones I plan. There are countless variables in wildlife photography, you can’t often have the light where you want it, the models won’t stand still, it is just hard to plan anything. I have a friend who only shoots landscapes and urban stuff. He gets mad when I try to get him to chase critters, he says he is already too nervous as things are!
The best work I have ever done is landscapes in black and white. I mostly used Kodak Technical Pan shot at ISO 25 and developed in Technidol liquid. None are availible at this time and more is the pity.
