To think Rob Reiner wrote all that and thought he was parodying Republicans. The joke, of course, was on him as most people came away loving Archie and realizing Meathead was in fact a meathead.
How true it was then, how true it is today as well.

I think people came away from that show seeing what they wanted to see.

Carol O’Connor was a flaming lib, but he nailed Archie. Perhaps one of the greatest acting jobs of all time.
Both of my grandfathers used to watch Archie and say “He’s right, ya know”.
I’m pretty sure Carroll O’Connor was a Dem.
I was also checking out the “Archie Bunker thinks England is a f*g country” video right beside it. That was funny too.
I prefer Eric Cartman, he was more to the point, “Democrats Piss Me Off!”
He despised the archy bunker show. He spent the rest of his life trying to make up for it. He loved doing “in the heat of the night”.
I loved that show. I still watch re-runs once in a while. Carroll became a born again Christian later on in life.
I knew Archie and yes he was a BIG LIB Democrat.

I liked his comment on the gun control video. Said he could stop all highjacking by arming the passengers. LOL
Absolutely. He was a liberal, but his acting talent made Archie come alive, and gave him more humanity than Rob Reiner could give to Meathead's character, who became more and more a caricature as the show went on.
He died a Catholic.
