I'm thinking of buying a half cow. Its a little more per pound than I normally spend, but I'll get some cuts I seldom buy. Sirloin, strip steaks, T-bones, filets.

Every few weeks Meijer has pork blade steaks or western style ribs for $.99 a pound. Its cheap meat but pretty good. I do the blade steaks like I do pork chops, and they come out pretty good. The western style ribs I throw in a roaster with a bottle of my favorite bbq sauce for 2 hours, then finish off the meat on the grill, carmalizing the sauce. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!
"Almost" like having bbq ribs, "somewhat". Good enough for me.

you are making me hungry with the ribs..I have a recipe for the best SUGAR FREE BBQ sauce ever, if you know someone who is diabetic. I’ll add it tommorrow.

If you have a generator, or great freezer option in case of an electric outage the half cow idea is great. I’ve thought of getting some chickens for the eggs..but that’s down the road.

I plan to make some better preps this year and can some things...stockpile some dry goods that I can rotate. I have a great farmers market, so I don’t have to grow it all it’s so cheap by bushel. Drying is a good thing too for certain fruits etc.
