U R welcome, and I wish I could get soups for that price,,,even off brands are a lot more for me. Aldi’s has some off brands but sell out quick. I’ll look around about buying more volume. Dried rice and beans are a good staple and can be kept a long time with bay leaves...but we need to be careful and not get stuck like some did on y2k. I do expect within 2 yrs some real depression problems developing, if not sooner..I could be wrong.

I'm thinking of buying a half cow. Its a little more per pound than I normally spend, but I'll get some cuts I seldom buy. Sirloin, strip steaks, T-bones, filets.

Every few weeks Meijer has pork blade steaks or western style ribs for $.99 a pound. Its cheap meat but pretty good. I do the blade steaks like I do pork chops, and they come out pretty good. The western style ribs I throw in a roaster with a bottle of my favorite bbq sauce for 2 hours, then finish off the meat on the grill, carmalizing the sauce. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!
"Almost" like having bbq ribs, "somewhat". Good enough for me.

you are making me hungry with the ribs..I have a recipe for the best SUGAR FREE BBQ sauce ever, if you know someone who is diabetic. I’ll add it tommorrow.

If you have a generator, or great freezer option in case of an electric outage the half cow idea is great. I’ve thought of getting some chickens for the eggs..but that’s down the road.

I plan to make some better preps this year and can some things...stockpile some dry goods that I can rotate. I have a great farmers market, so I don’t have to grow it all it’s so cheap by bushel. Drying is a good thing too for certain fruits etc.

I agree.

If you have a Sams Club card, they sell 50# bags of rice for $20. ALOT cheaper than buying by the box or the small bags at the grocery store. There are food grade 5 or 6 gal buckets you can buy to store beans and rice. Also oxygen absorbers.

There are about 2-1/2 cups of dry rice per pound. From what I've read, 100# of rice would fit into 3 buckets.

Also I've read that each person should have 1 cup of rice per day, on "survival" type rations.

With what the government is doing, hyper inflation HAS to follow sometime. We'll all need to plan ahead for whats coming. I love potatoes, but they don't store long, and they may get REAL expensive in the future.

Wow. Much to think about. With Obama it is all about the secrets. There is a finite amount of information available to anyone wanting to research his life. There are periods of time one asks did he really exsist?

Trying to put aside my bias and low opinion of obama, I ask myself how a man whose life story cannot be documented can become President of the United States in record time. His life is one secret after another. He was elected because his only "accomplishment" is a dark skin color.

The implication is that he and his ancestors have the same history as most of the African Americans today.

That simply is not true. His Mama was a white woman and his father was African. Not African American, but African. Was his father ever refused a place in a whites only section of a restaurant? Did his father grow up having to sit in the back of the bus? Was his father threatened with lynching for sleeping with and impregnating a white teenage girl?

Obama lived a sheltered life in Hawaii and had more opportunities handed to him than most people, black or white. How has he suffered because f the color of his skin? What doors were closed because he was black?

Blacks who see his election as an historical benchmark are looking through smoke and mirrors. The reality is that they helped elect a man who used them by making him think he was one of them.

Deep thinking over for the night :-)

MY SUGAR FREE B-B-Q-SAUCE

1 large onion, chopped fine (minced)
1 Tablespoon minced garlic (3 cloves)
1/2 cup canola vegetable oil
1 cup tomato paste (10-12 oz; or (2)*6oz cans)
1 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup Sugar-free Maple Syrup (one used for pancakes)
1/2 cup Splenda
1/2 cup worcestershire sauce
1 cup Dijon mustard OR ****substitute 1 cup yellow mustard with 1 teaspoon celery seed
2 Tablespoons Chili powder
1 Tablespoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

IN A LARGE SAUCEPAN on low heat, saute the onions and garlic in the vegetable oil for 10-15 minutes, until onions are translucent not brown.

Add the tomato paste, vinegar, 1/2 cup Sugar free MAPLE Syrup and 1/2 cup Splenda, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, chili powder, cumin and red pepper flakes. Simmer uncovered on low heat for 25-30 minutes. after use take leftover and REFRIGERATE, to usee as ribs or chicken marinade later, and extra Bar-b-que sauce for sandwiches, use additional sauce on side for dipping.

I bake country ribs in oven for 1 hr, then add BBQ sauce, and after 2 hrs they are really done.

***IF YOU WANT THE SUGAR VERSION JUST REMOVE THE 1/2 CUP SUGAR FREE MAPLE SYRUP AND the 1/2 CUP SPLENDA THEN.... SUBSTITUTE 1 CUP OF HONEY.

Any links?

Father Greeley, almost ten years ago, said he knew of pedophile-murderers among priests and bishops—and instead of calling the police, he said he had put incriminating information in a safe place, with instructions that it was to be released if he met a suspicious end.

He has never responded to calls to go to the police with the information he claims to have.

Curtis Sliwa knows a ton of dirt about Pfleger, Ayers, Wright, Jackson, Obama, et al., and the street gangs they are mixed up with.

Where is there more information about that Down Low and little boys???

Well all the people you just named are part of it. You won’t find much in print, just google it with Chicago. The persons I have spoken to don’t really want to talk about it, mostly because they then get followed, harassed threatened, beat up and their families get hurt. Or their houses burnt down. It’s not pretty.

Just like many black soldiers I knew in the Army. Every night after work they were headed to “da club.” Either the NCO or (lower E-4 and below) enlisted club. They could not wait to change into civies and hit the club.
