"Tmr I am gonna tweet the TOP TEN PORKIEST PROJECTS in the Omnibus Spending bill the Congress is about to pass," Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., wrote on his Twitter page yesterday.
And today he did.
They are:
"#10. $1.7M "for a honey bee factory" in Weslaco, TX
"#9. $475,000 to build a parking garage in Provo City, Utah
"#8. $200,000 "tattoo removal violence outreach program to could help gang members or others shed visible signs of their past" REALLY?
"#7. $300,000 for the Montana World Trade Center - enough said
"#6. $1 million for mormon cricket control in Utah - is that the species of cricket or a game played by the brits?
"#5. $650,000 for beaver management in North Carolina and Mississippi"
McCain had tweeted a question about how one manages a beaver, but he deleted it after the comment provoked a twizzard.
"#4. $2.1 million for the Center for Grape Genetics in New York - quick peel me a grape.
"#3. $332,000 for the design and construction of a school sidewalk in Franklin, Texas - not enough $ for schools in the stimulus?
"#2. $2 million 'for the promotion of astronomy' in Hawaii - because nothing says new jobs for average Americans like investing in astronomy"
And 30 minutes ago, Mr. McCain finally offered the big payoff:

Obama’s spending by the $2 trillion and McCain’s taking him to task by the $200,000.

I have heard that 40 percent of these wonderful pork projects were from republicans.
I guess the mormons aren’t relying on divine intervention to get rid of the crickets anymore.
That’s what McCain learned from the last election: it’s important to get applause on SNL and the late night shows.

Being downwind of a hog waste lagoon in summer is no picnic. And if the research can come up with a way to make it smell like roses instead of pigsh|t, then it’s money well spent.
Correction: 40 percent were from the last one. Come on repubs, we can get the pork up over 50 percent!
I see people post about the Republicans doing it too but if they didn’t stick their nose in their districts would get cheated out of getting some of their money back. As long as the system is in place as it is, to unilaterally disarm makes about as much sense as it did in the 80’s with the nukes. If I were a Congressman I’d work very hard to get the right controls in place to stop all of it but until it was stopped I’d grab every nickel I could for my district.

That is one of the stupider comments that I have ever read. Shiite smells. These pig farms are already under a mountain of regulation. Your idea is to throw money at a dubious problem. Where is the problem? Take care of it locally. The fed is not supposed to be my momma.
Think locusts, as in Biblical plagues, and you may have a better handle on them.

Are you against him calling out the pork spending? I’m certainly not, especially when none of our Arizona senators went for the pork. I think it is appropriate to criticize him where we should but to make comments like this in such serious time is grossly immature.
What’s wrong with pork? I like mine roasted or buried with muslims.
