Thanks for another pretty daisy opening. What a beautiful little girl!

I emailed some photos to you of the finished project, but they don't show the color of the paint well, or the brushed pearl effect. It didn't turn out looking bad, it just didn't turn out looking like I thought it would. And, the directions say to brush it on and use a trowel to "move the glaze around". That didn't work at all for me. It could be because the walls have too much texture on them. I ended up just brushing it on and swirling it around with the brush. It looks okay, I guess. I may get some darker or lighter tinted glaze and play with it more after I rest up from this project.....or, maybe not. LOL

Width and height - I think height is supposed to be 400 or under (I could be wrong on that, though), and have no idea what the width should be........Any advice?

yorkie, there aren't really any maximum width and height dimensions (except that there may still be many monitors whose settings are 800 (wide) x 600 (high). Beyond 800 pixels wide will mean that those with monitor settings of 800 x 600 have to scroll left to right to view the whole width of the graphic.

I know you have been very diligent at abiding by Amy's guidelines for byte sizes, but if everyone would try to get in the habit of also posting the dimensions in their img src commands, it would make reading the thread and comments for any with slower connections so much easier and more pleasant. When you right-click a graphic to save it and/or see how large it is in bytes, there is also another VERY IMPORTANT PART under 'properties' besides the url and the byte size. The width and height are listed as "Dimensions" (I am pretty sure you already know that! Some may not), and the width is always first and the height is second (i.e. Dimensions: 600 x 500 would be width=600 and height=500)

I also want to say that I never knew the importance of including the width and height when FR was still 'young' and there weren't nearly as many people posting graphics as now! But the reason it makes a difference for slow conections is that if one is opening a thread or their comment page for the first time, when there's a graphic posted without the dimensions specified, the space it takes up is that tiny, tiny little square, no matter what the physical size is. Then when it starts to open, it begins to open the full size the graphic IS. So, imagine if there are numerous graphics your browser hasn't cached yet, and none of them has the actual width and height specified, the text will start to drop down every time that tiny tiny little square opens to it's full size. Every graphic, every one of them opening means that everything below it has to adjust for it AFTER they open, whereas if you specify the correct width and height, everyone's browser has that 'space' already built in, and no text gets jumpy and moves around as things begin to open.

Some of you are already doing this. It's easier to post graphics without the width and height, but it's a habit that can be broken with just a little extra time, and soon you won't even think of posting one without those dimensions. EVERY graphic! EVERY time! (okay, tiny little smileys not so important, but everything else is!)

Oh my gosh, Meg - I have a Carolina Jasmine but it hasn't even begun to bloom yet. All our trees are beginning to leaf, but nothing from the Jasmine yet.

Thanks so much - I'm glad you like today's "Sunshine". :)

Hope your back feels better soon!

Re: the height/width dimensions.....I am pinging those who Billie pinged (at least the ones I can see). This might save you some time.

ST.LOUIE1, many years ago, sent me a link to a website where you can easily paste in your graphic location (url) and it will give you the entire html code with width and height dimensions included, all ready to copy and past into your post. I use this link several times a day. I don't know what I would do without it. This way it takes only seconds to paste in my image url and click "Generate Image Tag Code". (I usually ignore the "Insert Alt Text").

Here is the link to the page that has this handy-dandy tool.....

Dear Billie,

I’ve never been gone, just became a lurker for a while.

GuitarPlayer1953 is like me, looking for a spring of inspiration and your thread is like no other.

Keep up the good work, you have more admirers than you now.

Thank you, Lori! I remember him sending that to me, too - for me, it's easier, because I type so fast, to do the command, preview it, right-click for dimensions, and then type them in and POST the comment/graphic. But it's a habit I have MADE myself get into ever since we started the Finest 7 years ago! You know that! ALL of us that posted the openings learned to make ourselves post the dimensions in our graphics!

I think you've also said that, even with a fast connection, you still sometimes have a page jump around while you're trying to read because of graphics above that open after you've moved on down the page to read stuff. :)

I am using the ping list BECAUSE Jim Robinson has suggested everyone post the width and height when they post pictures!

Sounds like a good way to make things work more smoothly.

Bringing Daisy by for a visit. She's been busy digging for moles, it's not much fun cleaning her nose and paws every day but she's worth it.

That is wonderful and so sweet!

Is so nice to have something like that to hold on to forever, written by your mother. And it really is a good poem! Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

Meg, if you took that picture, you sure did a great job! You all a way ahead of us. Nothing is blooming here yet. The trees are just starting to put out but our spring is much later than Texas’ I guess! Hope your back is feeling better!

Once I was told to include h & w I did.

But for a long while after putting it in, I, just a couple of months ago realized I was spelling height wrong all along...transposing the ei...

I’ve done all I can do when I’m made aware and asked to do it...
