As such, he sees no need for clothes as he progresses towards a god-like status.

The problem (I suspect) is that many parents will also be clueless and think it’s for the kiddies. I’d say the R rating would give them a clue but you might be surprised how many of my elementary students would tell me about this or that R rated movie they saw.

I knew this would be a problem. Watchmen is not a kids’ comic book, it’s a true graphic novel, with lots of sex, relationships, and moral questions. There’s no way to do it as movie and make it a good guy vs. bad guy flick. But leave it to the Hollywood marketing teams to screw up royally.

Her point was that parents would be bringing 10 year olds to this film and witnessed such action.

She may have found the movie pointless but ultimately she is concerned about some parents who may come to the film bringing the kids because they don’t want to say “no”.

It is rated R.

I don’t even take my daughter (age 8) to see PG-13 movies, for Pete’s sake!

“like actually investigating the movie before you take or send your kids to see this garbage”

Right, like the same people investigated Obama before they elected him.

Joe Bob Briggs used to give the drive-in score for films (judged on blood, breasts, and beasts).

Did anyone click on the link and read her second paragraph? :)

"If you see it yourself, you're also probably a moron and a vapid, indecent human being. The movie arrives in theaters at Midnight, Thursday Night. It's rated "R"--which should kinda sorta be a hint--but it really deserves an "NC-17," at the very least."

you can go to www.themoviespoiler.com and have a whole synopis for free.

no need to spend money.

People need to focus on the story itself rather than just the costumes.

Seriously, part of the book is where Ronald Reagan beat carter in 1976.

It is rated R.

After reading the review on the movie I'm surprised it's not rated NC-17.

sounds like she is afraid people might see an antigovernment message in “who watches the watchmen”.

I knew nothing at all about the existence of The Watchmen prior to seeing ads for the movie. I think this is probably true with many people. Schlussel is correct that it’s being depicted as a superhero type of movie in the previews. And let’s not forget: one of the general premises in superhero movies is that the good guys win in the end. From her article, I don’t know if there are any “good guys” in the whole film. I’ll steer my kids away from this movie if they start showing any interest in it.

I’d agree if you take your kids to watchmen you are a moron, but not because of hollywood, but because you are too damned stupid to know the source material that this movie is based on.

This isn’t a story of Hollywood taking a classic comic super hero like say a superman and making him evil or dark, or applying moral relevancy to him... this is a movie that is based on a very adult themed and very dark comic to begin with.

watchment came about during the resurgene of the graphic novels with deeper plot lines.

Watchment was famous BECAUSE it showed the complicated nature of the costumed superheroes life.
