Link only, per rule: Health Buzz: Fried Insects Bad for Asthma
Darn, guess I’ll have to cut back on my fried grasshopper diet...
Ummmm, I guess there goes next Sunday’s dinner?
Why? Got butterflies in your stomach?
Under the Obama economy, we may be happily eating bugs. It’s amazing what you can do with bugs and a can of cream of muchroom soup.
From what I’ve read, people with certain allergies will react to most any insect species. IIRC, the chitin that makes up their exoskeleton has some of the same chemical compounds as shellfish.
I’m not much for eating bugs, anyway. I’ve had chocolate covered ants in Japan - not anything to cheer about, but it wasn’t bad. I can’t bring myself to eat any of the bigger bugs, though. Even cooked, the insides seem to always remain....gooshy
I have asthma. Thank goodness, no bugs for me.
Great, next time I’m at a gettogether and the host offers me some fried mantis; I can politely refuse - “doctor’s orders.”
