As the climate crisis mounts and Arctic icebergs slip away, polar bears are suffering starvation, population declines, and drowning as they must swim further and further to find food. Seeking to raise awareness for the endangered species' plight, ADDI Concepts has taken wildlife preservation literally by designing a life-vest for displaced polar bears struggling to stay afloat as their homes sink into the sea.
Polar bears are facing a bleak future as Arctic icebergs continue to melt and ancient shelves of ice collapse. The species inhabits only the Arctic Ocean and its surrounding areas, and they and can hunt consistently only from sea ice.

I guess they have no clue that polar bears actually dive to go after seals. They will just make polar bears starve if they float.

Why is it we only hear about da Bears? If their food is getting scarce, it is either because there are more bears feeding on available prey or the numbers of seals and other things are also decreasing.

My parents flew up to the tundra in the great frozen north as tourists one year. Their pilot landed the plane, they went walking—then had to run back to the plane as a polar bear was spotted far in the distance. Before they could take off, the bear very nearly caught the plane.
Those bleeping things are aggressive, and if the ice floes melt, they’ll just live elsewhere and eat other warm blooded creatures, including humans. They are, afaik, in no danger of a) starving or b) drowning.

In 2002, the US Geological Survey in the Arctic Refuge Coastal plain reported the polar bear population was near historic highs. Biologist Mitchell Taylor of the Arctic community of Nunavit who tracks 13 of those colonies, says 11 are stable or thriving with populations that have increased 25%.
There are approximately 19 worldwide polar bear populations, the Fish and Wildlife action was based solely on reviewing data for only one of those populations in western Hudson Bay which has declined by 259 bears in last 17 years. The decline is due to hunting to prevent overpopulation and ironically the Canadian government is looking to increase the quota.

True. Since their main prey is seals (which spend almost all of their time underwater) it is natural that the bears be equipped to go where their food is. Incidentally, there are polar bears stalking the guys on the North Slope. Just thought you might like to know. My son works on a 30-acre manmade island up there, and there are all kinds of warnings about being away from the buildings, and bears everywhere. Polar bears do not hibernate, so they are active all winter, as well as all summer. Why should they go swimming for a seal if they get the idea they can find a nice tasty human walking around without protection? Polar bears are the only known predator in North America that stalk humans for food. (or, so I've been told)
Actually, it's increasing. It's about 5 times what it was 40 years ago.
