Unwed Pregnancy at Highest Rate EVER!

I really went on a rant today about the number of out of wedlock pregnancies in the U.S. It's too long to post here but I'd love some feedback on it.

Well, we all know that oral sex isn’t sex so that can’t possibly lead to anything else that might result in pg.

Pass the equal custody law in all states.
That will take a lot of the bitterness out of divorce as well as the financial incentive. With those removed, the incentive for divorce is less, and the chance of reconciliation is greater.

80% of the divorces are filed by women and the laws and courts favor them for custody and reward them financially.

The bad side: cultural decay. The good side: Heterosexuality is in full bloom!

Um, maybe I’m missing something, but what does divorce have to do with unwed pregnancy rates?

The sad part of this is that many of the youth today are growing up in a family (hopefully they can call it a family) either without a father or without parents being married. This will lead to problems later as these kids don’t have proper role models and get into trouble. The traditional family unit of a mother and father who are married usually produces the most stable, productive kids. Not to say that kids who come from single mothers can’t be productive but they have more obstacles ahead of them from those with fathers in their lives every day.

For years Bill Cosby has been all over how this is a national tragedy for the black community. Fathers need to be married to mothers and fathers need to support their kids. Too often this is not the case in black families and it only makes it more difficult for single mothers to get educated, get good jobs and simply to get ahead and achieve the American Dream.

Society rewards having unwanted kids with an increase in your welfare payments or foodstamps.

They aren’t really the same thing, but some divorces result in children being raised in a single parent home just as much as unwed pregnancies do. I would guess that would be the reason of talking about divorce.

My husband’s mother’s stepdaughter recently got pregnant at sixteen. What do they do? Throw her a baby shower!

Was behind a black woman in line at a grocery store yesterday. She had seven kids, 2 screaming for candy, the oldest ones all on their cell phones. She paid for groceries with WIC and EBT card, walked out and got into a huge Expedition with expensive tires and rims while talking on her cell phone. Isn’t America wonderful?

Whenever the Democrats remind people of how incomes have become so skewed, with the “rich” accounting for more of the nation’s income, I like to cite a primary cause being the increase in single parent households since the 1970s.

They like to talk about how the ranks of poor and lower middle class have grown, and how the “rich” have profited (and therefore must be taxed more). However, they neglect to mention that by “rich” they often mean married, dual income couples, and by poor, they include single-parent households, whose numbers have grown dramatically.

Obama and his strategists, Axelrod and Rahmbo, know the demographics quite well, and their carefully crafted tax-cuts and demonization of the “rich” helped win them the election.

Does anyone remember a study done by the late Daniel Moynihan (sp?) in the ‘60s? It predicted very bad consequences for society and what was then called the Negro community, because the unwed birth rate had soared to a then very high 25% of all Negro births.

The politically correct crowd of that era blasted that report as being biased racist and uncaring.

Is society really better off because of the whole “sex revolution”, part of which was not to be judgemental about related matters such as teenage pregnancy and unwed mothers?

Wow, 80% of divorces filed by women? I really need to read up on that? Does it say something about women and decision making? Is that what got us CHANGE???

Very good observation. Moynihan once said that the problem with welfare is not what it costs the government, but what it costs the people who are on it in terms of self-respect. I couldn’t agree more. What happened to Democrats like that?

Obama and the Left encourage lack of achievement. If you make people comfortable with failure then it’s easier to control them. It’s all about power.

We’ve had showers at my church like that, if you can believe it. I understand not beating up on someone for making a mistake, especially when they’re young and stupid (think we’ve all been there). But embracing bad behavior is different. These same young people often go right back out and do it all over again.

The concept of shame is gone.

I’ve seen some crazy stuff with the EBT/food stamp program too. It’s amazing that the government actually advertises for people to get into this program. I’ve seen reports on how the program was “underused”. That’s madness and it shows how they WANT us all to be dependent on government.

Fraud is still rampant with the food programs too. Most of the people on these programs acutally buy groceries for other people and then trade the groceries for cash.

I can’t blame Obama directly but I will blame the mentality that got him elected.
